FSW Spring 2018

It's a bit early, I know. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those looking down the road planning to apply to FSW this fall for the spring 2018 program start..

I'm planning on applying to the Charlotte campus for the Evening/Weekend (ANEW) schedule format.

What campus are you planning on applying to?

What classes are you trying to finish up before applying in Sept/Oct?

What program schedule format will you be choosing (Daytime or evening/weekend)?

Did you take the TEAS VI exam and how did you do?

I look forward to the discussion over the next few months!!

That's terrific. I think I will just go ahead & apply then. I have 6 classes that I plan to take this fall I'm going to try to cram in but the TEAS is the main for me. I'm going to see if I get accepted. I was reading back on some 2016/2015 FSW thread and I see people who had little to nothing were getting in. I have HOPE :) maybe we all will be classmates. & Yes if I get accepted I will def take the remainded of my courses during the two summers. IF we get accepted we will graduate December 2018 correct?

You mentioned that you are going to do 6 classes this fall?? Keep in mind that the application period for the spring semester is from September 15th to October 15th. So any classes completed during this fall semester won't be included on that application.

Yes I noticed the same thing you did, some applicants with points in the high 50s and low 60s got accepted to their Campus of choice. There really is no harm in trying to apply even with the bare minimum of classes completed.

No, all of those students who begin in the spring of 2018 would finish their last semester in the fall of 2019. Yeah you never know some of us might end up being classmates. Here's hoping!

Hey guys! I was just reading comments and noted that someone said that A&P 2 is now required. Is that a true statement? It does not show it on their requirement page. I am worried because now i might not be able to apply for Spring as I am financially unable to take any classes this fall (2017). Can anyone help with this question? Also, would anyone who has applied without completing all pre-reqs tell me about their experience? I.E did you feel as though it hindered your experience or you felt less prepared. Thank you!

If you click on the link that canegurl07 posted at the top of the page you will see they're updated requirements where they require a&p 2 before applying. But you are correct it seems that one of their information Pages hasn't been updated with this new requirement. It's very unfortunate that you won't be able to apply now because of that.

I THINK YOU SHOULD STILL APPLY WITH WHAT YOU GOT. @kmm0425 TO BE HONEST WE MAY END UP CHOSEN JUST BECAUSE WE ARE TAKING A CHANCE. I BELIEVE IN ALL OF US. LETS DO THIS. I THNK THE MAIN PART IS SCORING HIGH ON THE TEAS AND HAVING A GOOD GPA. MY GPA IS A 3.32 RIGHT NOW. HAVENT RECEIVED MY GRADES FROM STA SUMMER COURSE BUT I'M POSITIVE ITS AN A. WHAT ARE YOU'LL USING TO STUDY? I WANT TO ATLEASE MAKE AN 80. HAS ANYBODY TAKEN THE TEST? IF SO WHAT BOOKS YOU USED

I agree with canegurl07, it doesn't hurt to apply with what you have. You never know!

As for what materials I used for the teas, I used the Mometrix TEAS secrets book to study. I voice recorded the whole book and listened to it while I worked out and commuted to work. It was very effective for me since I managed to score 89.3% overall. Since math and science contribute most to your overall score, make sure you study those sections the most prior to your exam.

I agree I was reading an old forum once they applied they was nervous said it took 4 wks to get a response. I want mine to catch me off guard and also, where did u find your book? how long did you study? my plan is to make well over an 80. I want to test before September 10th, and apply before the October 15. I'm all for us getting into the program. Spring 2018 We ready .

Hi all!!! I'm applying for the second time this October, 3.35 GPA and 72.7 on the TEAS. I retest 10/4. They are also allowing me to retake nutrition and comp 1 where I received C's because those grades are over 15 years old. I just finished Nutrition with an A. These retakes will give me a 3.75 going into Fall 2018. I'm hoping I score an 80 or above on the TEAS to get into the Spring semester.

I ordered my Mometrix TEAS secrets book from amazon. It was only $20-25. I spent about 2 and a half weeks studying between 1.5-3 hours per day. It's important to skim over your A&P notes too since any text book won't cover all of the info the may come up on the exam. A score of 80+ is a great goal and is very achievable, just study as much as you possibly can try to get lots of rest before, and lots of water on test day!

Welcome!

Thanks for sharing some personal information with us. Since you will be over the nerves that go along with taking the TEAS for the first time, I bet it is very likely that you will score an 80+ on the TEAS. And a 3.75 GPA is great! How many points did you apply with the first time, and what campus is your first choice?

I think its a good idea to share our GPA, TEAS scores, and total admission points so future applicants can refer to our discussion in this thread for when they apply (The same way we rely on information from past FSW threads).

For those who haven't already checked it out, you can figure out your admission points by plugging in your information on the tally sheet (Entry ASN) on the FSW nursing page.

AS Nursing | Academics | Florida SouthWestern State College

I just got my final grades back from the summer semester and since I already took my TEAS I can give my final application numbers;

GPA - 4.0

TEAS - 89.3%

Total Points - 80

For those of you who are willing (no pressure), please share your points so we, and future applicants, can refer to it when they apply.
