FSW Fall 2015

Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.

Who is joining me next fall in nursing?

I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. :arghh: lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.

I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.

I dont even know if we need uniforms for next semester if we aren't even doing clinicals yet in part time. I am going to order them Tuesday just in case. Im also scheduling my physical with my dr on monday and register for cpr class. I havent had time to do all that.

Does anyone know when we will be able to register?

Tori, how's a&p 2?

White scrubs? Are they serious? Don't they know it most likely will probably get super dirty.

I know right. I knew it was white because I have seen the nursing students on campus and because of a friend in program.

They said they will email us when our major's have changed, I'm assuming that won't be until at least after July 9th since one of the forms due by then is the change of major request form lol. The polo's and white or khaki pants are definitely for lecture, bit that's a great question about your clinicals since you are in part time.

A&P 2 is going well, but super fast! It's over the same day all of our paperwork is due, do its going to be a busy July! Thanks for asking :)

I sent an E-mail to Sandra Krotov regarding my chat with certifiedprofile.com and I am waiting to hear back. We aren't seeing that option because it's not there for us to see. The code that we were given to register does not grant access to it... :(

Did you ever get response?

I called CertifiedProfile.com and the representative said FSW has to give us a NEW code. He told me they might still be in the process of updating the system to include another package (aka compliance tracker).

I haven't been on certifiedprofile.com till today and I didn't find compliance tracker. However, in the documents section we can upload files in the medical reports. I'm thinking it will most likely be added once we are officially nursing students. Such mystery...lol

Thats great Tori. Paperwork? I hope its not alot. Lol

I am very happy that I did get in as part time. I was really freaking out about taking it this summer with two active kids, it would have been very tough.

That's exactly what I was thinking too. We get the paperwork done and we just upload the documents. They said need a code for the program( compliance tracker) so maybe its more sophisticated than that, so I guess we just wait a little more. I have no idea

Am I reading this wrong? The paper I got about the uniforms says in the first paragraph that we must have white uniforms. This paragraph is for us. [The second paragraph is for people already in the program, not us. So, they are the ones that can wear polos to the non-hospital clinicals and certain labs.] I thought you can wear whatever to the lectures, and then the white uniform to our clinicals.

Okay guys. I'm here shopping for books online and I'm seriously trying to justify whether it's worth buying the 6th edition of the Essentials of psych/mental health nursing SIXTH edition for 50ish dollars when I can buy the FIFTH edition for under 10 dollars. Seems a bit outrageous to buy the newest edition when there may not be too many changes except wording (like most cases). Has anyone seen the two books to compare?

I have seen both editions. There is not much difference at all. Get the older edition.

Well, I just ordered the older edition. I figured for less than 7 dollars, even if they tell me to get the new one it's still not a bad deal. Here is a link to more cheap ones. (Like really cheap)

I'm at work right now so I can't really check myself, but do you know if the books are cheap to buy? Used maybe? I'm thinking that I would want to keep all the nursing textbooks in case I have to refer back to something later.
