FSW Fall 2015

Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.

Who is joining me next fall in nursing?

I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. :arghh: lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.

I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.

As far as stethoscopes, I'm looking at Litmann Classic S.E. II and MDF MD One dual heads. The Litmann is very known company and everyone wants any of their stethoscopes. However, the reviews on MDF MD One are great and some say is better than the Litmann Classic. Plus the best thing of MDF is lifetime warranty. I have decided yet on which I am getting. I am waiting for my official nursing packet and see what they recommend or when we get uniforms, I hope to try out some stethoscopes in the store.

Let me know what you decide on.

Based on reviews I was also considering the Littmann Classic II S.E.

I did too! And a recent classmate of mine, Onemorething. I think there is only a hand full of us that are going to Collier Campus that post on this thread.

Glad you got in.

I check my mail box everyday and nothing.:sarcastic:

I wonder when we will receive our official packets. Does anyone have any new information?

Gosh, I'm dying to know more information and get everything else done. I hate not having control of things. :(

I check my mailbox and inbox in hopes to recieve new news.

No news here either. However, my financial aid "grants" were already accepted. I was on campus and asked about the financial aid and she responded "we cant see the aid part". I asked her about usung the money for the scrubs, and she said I'd probably have to buy them and pay myself back. Couldnt give ne anymore info. She didnt even know howeven/where we get the scrubs from. I have a stethoscope already. Its from my old school. I used it when i worked for lee memorial. It has an adult tip and a peds tip. I have no idea of the brand, just that its my lucky scope! Think ill stick with it, ofcourse if I found pink, I'd obviously have to get it

Litmann has pink. I love the raspberry color. If I get MDF also comes in pink. I am undecided on pink or purple though.

And we cant buy scrubs with financial aid because its not on campus but a store near the school. But you get the money back from grants that was unused so technically its paid for.

I bought the Littman Lightweight II SE in lilac. It's supposed to be lighter on your neck if carrying it around all day. I almost bought the MDF brand, but went with the well-known brand name.

I'm undecided between lilac and pink! :)

I want lilac but I read that since its so light in color that it gets dirty. Lol

Hey guys! I'm going to buy a stethoscope soon. I was wondering from people currently in the medical field what brand and model you guys recommend? I have close to ZERO experience with them with the exception of a blood pressure lab in A&P II. :o

I love my Littmann Cadiology III Stethoscope. I've had it for 6 years so far...since I was in LPN school and have been using it for work and it is still my fav. I also have a Littmann Lightweight II SE. The difference is in the acoustic quality. The cardiology III is rated at an acoustic quality of 9 and the Lightweight SE acoustic quality is rated at a 6 and I'd have to say that I agree. The lightweight is a little lighter than the Caridology but not by too much. Both are great stethoscopes and do the job...I have slightly bad hearing so I prefer the Cardiology III.

I got the exact same one in "seafoam" it's like a pearly green! It is much lighter than the regular one!

I also have a cardiology III. Best stethoscope I've ever used. I don't notice the weight of it. It's costly though. Thankfully mine was a gift.

Kat, are you talking about a Pell grant or did you also get another grant? Just curious because I'm still waiting to see if i qualify for any additional funds other than Pell grant.
