FSW Fall 2015

Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.

Who is joining me next fall in nursing?

I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. :arghh: lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.

I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.

So is anyone else commuting from Charlotte County to Ft. Myers for Lee Nights?

Wow! Long drive

40 minutes approximately but my friend Ryan and I both got in so we will take turns commuting!

Ouch, a long drive in miles. I currently live in NW cape and from my house it takes me almost 40 min because of traffic. I used to get in Charlotte in less than 30 min but it is more miles for me. Hopefully before nursing school, I will move closer. I am in the process of buying a new house and selling ours. So I hope it is all done before school. lol

They actually changed the times so now

Part time Schedule is

NUR 1511 Introduction to Mental Health Concepts in Nursing (Mon or Wed 5:30-6:30pm)

NUR 2140 Pharmacology for Nurses (Tues 8-10pm)

NUR 1060 Health Assessment (Tues 5:30-7:30pm)

NUR 1060L Health Assessment Lab (Mon or Wed 6:35-9:35pm)

So for us part time it is 2 nights a week.

Btw, Tori we do pick our classes however its clinical we don't have a choice unless someone trades with you.

Did you get this schedule at orientation? I have nothing on my FSW portal. No new messages or schedule.

@trinsmom

which selection did u get? Im lee day

So excited, talked to the preschool my youngest went to, and they said i could use them for after care. My 5 and 10 year old can get dropped off there after school. This is great news cuz most places want definitive days and i cant give them that year round. Also, only $5 per hour/kid...thats good because i only need 2 hours a week! Sa-weet

That's awesome! I got into Lee Nights. I still have to work unfortunately....lol! My daughter is 13 now, so she is self sufficient! LOL! I never could have done this while she was younger because my hubby works in Naples and can't guarantee he would be able to get her before 6... Craziness! Things work out for a reason! :)

Besides BLS, what else are we going to need? The PPD test for TB and a physical? Is there anything else?

Guess we wont know until we get the acception packets. Bummer

Besides BLS, what else are we going to need? The PPD test for TB and a physical? Is there anything else?

I'm assuming once we receive the acceptance packet that's where more detailed instructions about getting our Immunization and health report,

Screening for TB, and the

Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) :)

Yeah- I called and she wouldn't give me much information other than to wait for them to send us what we will need to do. Luckily, I work in the hospital so I have my BLS, ACLS and what they have listed already done. I guess once they finish going through all of the profiles, we will get more information.
