FSCJ Fall 2012

Hey everyone!! I just wanted to start a new topic since it doesn't seem there are any discussions yet about anyone who is applying to the Nursing program for Fall 2012. I'm a little nervous right now b/c I will still be enrolled in Micro when I apply. Without Micro I will have a 189. I'm still going to apply (with my fingers crosse) in hoped I get in or even get a call from someone denying. If I end up with at least a B I'll have 201 total points. From what I've read a 201 should be guaranteed but then I'd have to wait until Spring. Fingers crossed a 189 w/o Micro will be enough for Fall! I'm so ready to start this program. Nervous & excited. Any tips/pointers would be greatly appreciated =)

I spoke with the head of the nursing program and they are not offering nights until Spring 2013

Hi all you fall 2012 hopefuls!

I am in my first term at FSCJ, I got into the summer program! Yay! I just thought I'd let you guys know that I got in to N/W with point score of like 203... Also, start saving your pennies now, the first term is really fast-paced and pretty dern expensive!

Also, if anyone is interested in getting their CNA certification while waiting for fall term to start, check out cnaact.com for some resources. I took classes there and it was a really good program... CNA training will really benefit you when you are taking techniques because you learn a lot of transferable clinical skills!

ciao and good luck everyone!

Thank you for that info! I've heard from numerous individuals how expensive everything will be...I'm hoping that I'll have enough $$$ to cover everything!

I am actually really, really, really wanting N/W classes too. I applied for this upcoming term hoping that I could make Days work, but it's not looking so good. I have to keep my job and pay these bills-sooo much fun being an adult with real responsibilities!! Haha, it is what it is. :) I'm still going to stay positive though. If I cannot make days work, I'm going to apply on August 1st and start the waiting process all over again. I have 220 pts, and I know that is a good score, but it still makes me nervous. I know there are only so many seats that they can give out. Also, I was wondering if you could tell me what your schedule is like? I'm married with a two year old (Awesome!!!) son, and I am trying to get a picture of just how hectic my life is going to be-lol  Any information you can give me would be very much appreciated! Have a great day!

Liamsmama,

I have heard from numerous people that once your in nursing school, it's your life and will completely consume you. They said that the divorce rate among nursing students is very high so be prepared!!! :) Not to discourage anyone, but I think you need a supportive family in order to be successful with this endeavor.

They do give preference to certain counties I think. Good luck. We should be hearing something the end of next month! Yay!

I did a board search a while back and the people that were waiting on their letters this time last year for Fall 2011 got their letters the first week of July...some people were posting on July 6th that they were in.

Hopefully we don't have too much longer to wait!! :)

Hopin to get in for Fall semester with a 217 total point score. Wanted N/w, so I could keep working at Deerwood center and not have to go to the dreaded northside, but it sounds like there isn't going to be a N?W program this semester

Looks like we're in the same boat. I have 220 pts and I really wanted N/W too...I'm still trying to figure out if I can make Days work. Fingers crossed!! If I cannot make it happen, I will definitely be submitting my application on August 1st :) Staying positive over here-well, trying to! Good luck to you!

I am a Fall hopeful too! I also saw that last year the first "offers" went out around July 6th. Hopefully we will find out by next Friday. I wonder how many are applying. I came in with 204 points, crossing my fingers that it will be enough.

So excited I found this forum. I am a young single mom, I applied with a 196 (currently enrolled in micro). Nervous waiting on letters but the previous forums give great advice so I'm planning on saving up and being prepared for acceptance but also planning on applying again if neccesary for spring! Staying positive and trying to be cool :)

Hi everyone!

I am just as anxious as everyone else to see if I have gotten into the program for fall. I've been taking my pre-rec's for what seems like forever and I'm am ready to start this program! I was a bit disappointed that CNA's didn't get extra points for already being in the workforce because I've been a CNA for 3 years now but I still turned in my application with a 201 so I'm hoping that is enough to get in next semester.

Good luck everyone!

I'm in!!!! Check your mailboxes!! :)
