Freaking out

Soo, I am not intimidated by working in major cities, not intimidated by living there either. But I find myself back-peddling because Im scared to death of driving across the country by myself. I dont have anyone who can tag along.

My agency knows that I may have a MA license soon, and yesterday my recruiter asked how I feel about Boston, or Philly in Pa. Initially, I was jumping for joy. I would love to be in those cities on an assignment with hopefully extensions. But now that Ive had time to settle down, I'm freaking out over the drive. I am from HomeTown, USA. I am not used to crazy driving. The most excitement that I get on my daily commute is passing a tractor. Anyone else get this way? The furthest I have ever traveled is 700 miles and it was a pretty easy trek, no tolls or anything. But Philly is 1000 miles from home and Ill have to drive the turnpike. And Boston is 1300 miles. omg!

    Way off topic here but I do not want to start another thread here or on the MA forum: I hope I did not screw up on my MA license application. It asked about my nursing program, and I listed the original ADN program that I went through when I first got my RN. Should I have also listed the school/program of my BSN? I guess I shouldve listed both schools?

    Also, when I was 18, I became an LPN and worked as LPN for 3 years. My LPN license has been inactive for over a decade. Should I have had my BON send MA my LPN licensure information in addition to my RN licensure info? I didn't want to pay my BON another 60 bux to send MA my LPN info because I didnt believe my inactive LPN would make any difference since I am applying for RN. I did list the LPN license # on my application because it asked for all licenses, including inactive. But it did not specify if it was necessary to have all licenses verified by original BON.

    You did it right. You do need to verify all nursing licenses, including your expired LPN license. You can always call the MA board for clarification but since you listed it, I think you must verify it.

    Well, got 'er all straightened out. The MA BON wants the LPN, too. So, I just got back from visiting my BON, my BON took the processing fee of 60 and said they will be sending MA my LPN info to MA today. I dont forsee any delay in getting my MA license now that its been rectified in time.

    It sucks that my BON isnt in with Nursys, but I am fortunate to live 10 minutes from my BON :))

    I drove 700 miles yesterday. Get an EZ pass. Refuel during the day. Gas stations can be dangerous places at night.

    Boston is a walking town with public transport ation. You could manage just fine without a car.
