There is no shame in that. A preceptor once told us that it is better to fail with 75 questions rather than with 265, because at least, you weren't stressed that much, answering all the questions but still failing in the end. There is probably no words that can make you feel better at this point but you need to look on the bright side. You have a baby coming, what is better than that? God probably has greater reasons for you and your family. He always does. NCLEX will always be there, you can take it anytime you want, whether it's before or after you give birth. Focus on what you have at the moment. If you spend more time dwelling on the darker side of things, you will lose the chance of enjoying the beauty of your pregnancy.

Please don't consider this the end of your nursing career; it just means that you won't be starting right now. There obviously is a lot else going on in your life right now. Enjoy your new baby, then do whatever reviewing you need before your next attempt. Seriously, 2-3 of the best, most intuitive floor nurses I have known didn't pass the paperwork 1st time around. Remember- it doesn't matter how many times you fall, only how many times you get back up!

Oh Riza, I am so sorry to hear that. One thing for sure is to believe that you CAN and WILL tackle this exam. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you are ready. Don't pressure yourself if you feel uncertain. Good things will come your way in due time. Right now, focus on having a healthy baby and be a proud mommy. The rest will fall into place.

I know exactly how you feel, because I did not pass with 75 questions also!

My words of advice would be allow yourself to be sad for a few days, then pick yourself up and dust yourself off TRY AGAIN.

It's a hard test, but you can do it. For me I was very sick, and took the exam anyway. I kept thinking during the test I want to get out of here! So now I am studying and determined to pass. I won't let one test discourage me from my goal. Hang in there, you will succeed.

Yap!!i agree so much with u!!!I failed twice at 265 and i hate it!!!!The long time you spend in the computer,the more stress u are, the higher the chance u got drain and then failed!!!!!!I'd rather go for the 75 questions which has the greater chance of passing and wud not drain u much rather than spending long and failed in the end....

i have the same feelings as u did and its just recently too.the positive result i was expecting should also be my present to my 2 boys but sad to say, it was not..

as others are telling... and the same thing i was getting from everybody who knew what i've gone tru..."dont give up.. maybe its not ur time yet..be patient"

and u r experiencing right now the most wonderful experince of all.. having a baby... anybody can take nclex anytime, but not everybody experiences the joy of becoming a mother...

and this alone makes u a winner..

thank you so much to those who replied to my post ,it really helped me a lot to put back my thoughts together. now, i am starting to plan my next steps and that is to study again in the remaining months of my pregnancy (3 months and 3 weeks to be exact). this time i will be more certain when it comes to my readiness in taking up the nclex again whether before or after i give birth.

That's the attitude to have. You will be okay. By the way, did you use any review course to study?

This is just a thought but reviewed nursing contents with Saunders 3rd edition and Kaplan coursebook. Practiced question using Kaplan and NCSBN online review. A combo of those helped.

books i used is only NCLEX Made Incredibly Easy Comprehensive Review and Q & A books and I took 3-week course with ncsbn though I finished it 3 weeks prior my exam date so I kinda forget, everything I studied there.

I still have my lippincott Q & A here but gee it's very wordy..it's like each question has 3 sentences or most of the questions there are compound sentences that makes you dizzy while reading it..in contrast to the questions I encountered when I took the nclex..i mean nclex Q's is very simple stated and direct to the point though there is always a single word that makes it tricky and confusing..

i wanted to take kaplan course but mu hubby couldn't afford it, it's hundreds of dollars so i amp planning to change book..that is saunder's..

do you think it would really help me if i will focus on that single book plus suzanne's plan? i've only got 100 bucks left in pocket which i intend to save for my nclex re-take fee or maybe i will just buy saunder's book instead..:uhoh21:

Don't know much about Suzanne's plan but I can tell you that Saunder's is great for nursing content. Very informative and not boring. Also keep in mind that Kaplan's review course is backed by a 100% money back guarantee (should you fail nclex after taking their course). Personally Kaplan helped me tackle the analysis/application and priority questions on the nclex exam. If you are not willing to spend that much money, they make a wonderful strategy book that you can find at any bookstores, including their website. The book details how to tackle questions using Kaplan's strategies. It cost $35 and has some practice question. I know many people who only read Kaplan's strategy book and passed. Well worth it. Bottom line is that you have to measure the pro's and con's of each option and do what you feel is best for you. Always know that no matter what, you CAN do anything you put your mind to.

i too didnt make it the first try and altho it is so difficult especially with hectic schedule as a mom and wife, i am slowly picking up the pieces, starting again... hang in there... enjoy the pride of pregnancy:) your child will be the biggest gift you will ever give to yourself and hubby! nclex is always by chance... you may do your best reviewing and taking it, but there is no certain that a person will pass or fail.... what matters most is you have tried and you have given your best. if we fail, try and try again... we are here for yah, and you arent alone... we will nail nclex next time around! best of luck to yah and God bless...

I too agree with previous posts! And just remember when you, and you will, get your RN license, it will say your name RN, not your name and how many times it took you to pass RN. I failed my first time at 265 and now working on studying for the second test. I NEVER want to take 265 questions again because it was draining and I lost stamina back at 150q
