Forensic Nursing

I have an interest in forensic nursing and was wondering of any one had information as to where I could get information on tharted in this direction and what the demand is. I have a legal/criminal justice educational background as well as being an RN. I have always wanted to combine the two and this seems perfect. Any information would be helpful, thanks. :nurse:

First of all: NICE CHOICE!

For information, I'd go to the IAFN web page (International Association of Forensic Nurses). That is where you should get most of your questions answered. I also like http://www.theforensicnurse.com. They have a lot of info as well.

As for demand, forensic nursing is still spanking new, but there should be a few posted at the aforementioned site. At least for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. If that is what you want to go into. I know for this title, you'll need to get certified (which there are a few programs listed at the IAFN site) or go get a masters degree (there are only a few of these, but they're also listed on the IAFN site).

I believe if you want to go into death investigation, you have to get yourself set up with the Medicolegal Death Investigators board. American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) - American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators I don't think there are as many options here, but you should still check it out.

If these sites don't help you out, this one may sane-sart.com - this place has a listing of a few programs and things that could assist you.

Anyway, good luck. I mean it! Tell me how it goes if you can.
