For those of you taking nclex!!

Published

I recently took NCLEX and passed! I had 17 sata and 75 questions...Here is my suggestion GET THE EXAM CRAM BOOK (FOR THE CD), I worked with Saunders 4 ed (the blue book) ..after I completed the questions I went back and looked at the rationales even if I got the question right, but IMO the exam cram CD is most like NCLEX and it even shuts off just like nclex does when you reach the pass point. HOWEVER, I think the MOST important key is to KEEPING GOD w/you, pray from HIM to guide you in preparation for this test and I truely believe that He is the reason that I passed!! Good Luck to everyone who is taking NCLEX. As far as review classes are concerned I took RHINEHART Review class ( they just happen to be the people who wrote exam cram) it is $300 and you can attend the class as often as you want...they also offer the review online....but the CD is the key. Also when you are studying dont strictly look over content remember to include infection control, how to position patients for procedures etc those are some things we were taught in our review class!!Good Luck, God Bless and I will be praying for those of you taking Nclex...feel free to PM me if you would like me to pray for you, I was lucky enough to have lots of people praying for me when I took NCLEX!!!

thanks for ur advice, i will try the cd too,pls pray that i pass, just graduated in may, planning to take it soon.....congrats...

Please pray for me! I take it in a week. CONGRATULATIONS to you, by the way :hpygrp:

Wow awsome I do have a exam cram Cd and I'm planning to do all the questions (1000) right after finishing NCSBN review,do I have to set it up in test mode in order for the questions to be shut off and also my CD comes from the older version of the book, does it matter, thank you.

Well, I have the Exam Cram NCLEX-RN Practice Questions 2nd ed. The CD has approx 1250 q's and three testing levels. The 1st level is the Pretest. This level establishes your baseline. After taking the pretest (I recommend doing 2/3), Exam Cram saves your data and determines if you're ready for the next level. The next level is the Adaptive drill. This level takes your history and gives you q's that you had the most difficulty with and drills you until you are ready for the next level. The last level is the Simulated test (CAT). This final level is the actual simulated NCLEX. It will stop you when it has determined your competency level, just like the NCLEX. You don't necessarily have to do all the levels in order, but I do recommend it.

I'm not sure if the older version is similar, but I hope this helps.

wow, this is awesome to read, I had been waiting for someone to write about their experience with exam cram but all I read about were stories on Kaplan, trainers, etc, I was afraid I am not preparing sufficiently. I take the NCLEX in 3 weeks and all I have used so far is the exam cram cd, I have completed all levels and taken 2 simulated nclex style tests and scored excelent. I thought I made a mistake devoting so much time to exam cram, im glad to see that it helped someone. I am doing the Rhinehart book now and I wanted to start Saunders. I only have Saunders 3rd Edition, is this edition good enough or should I get a more recent one? Also, the online rhinehart review you mentioned, does it incorporate audio, kinda like the actual class or is it more like the exam cram cd? I looked up their schedule and they wont be in a city near me by the time I take the nclex, so should I bother signing up for the online class? Help help

Congratulations on passing your NCLEX. I am scheduled for the 29th of this month. I haven't heard of the exam cram...what is it? Where do you get it? and how long will it take to get through? As my days are getting less and less as far as preparing go, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks and good luck to everyone awaiting the NCLEX!!!

You can get exam cram from books-a-million or barnes & noble, I dont even have the exam cram book I know a lot of people who did have it . I was just talking about the exam cram cd ( mine came w/ my Rhinehart book) but if you cant get to a rhinehart review class, I was just saying that you could get the same cd w/ the exam cram cd...as far as Saunders goes I dont really think that it matters that its not the latest version...I didnt even look @ the book I just did the questions and looked at my rhinehart book you can order their online review and go at your own pace, the sections just sum everything up so this can be divided up and done really quickly (IF YOU REALLY WANT TO) in class we started at 8:00 each morning and took and hour lunch finished up by 3:30 ( the class was only 3 days). OHH another thing that I did like 2 days before the test was use NCLEX 3500 and that was really really really good too it is a free web site online I found out about it through allnurses. All the questions that I did I went back and looked at the rationales. The exam cram cd does use the CAT method just like nclex, there are 3 levels but I ONLY did pre-test like 3x and then I went straight to the simulated test even though you arent really suppose to. God Bless & good luck, I know this is tough but it WILL be worth it, no matter how long it takes!!!

I also think prayer is one big part of taking this test, yes I do. I went confident and not to worried the first time and failed miserably. I am now praying (and studying hard) I will take this test on Aug 5th at 8 AM PT. Can you pray for me?

Thank you so much

Congratulations and thanks for posting this! I totally agree about seeking God and praying for everything. He is the reason I survived nursing school. I take NCLEX on July 15th. Do you think it is worth getting the Exam Cram CD this late in the game? I have played around with NCLEX 3500 but I wasn't sure if the questions were up to date. I will go back to doing some of the questions.
