first period in 2 yrs

I have a friend, who has had unexplained amennorhea for 2 years now and all of a sudden, just got her period the other day. No pregnancy involved, her Dr, just said it was stress that caused the amenorrhea. What's up with that why all of a sudden would her period just reappear. Any ideas?

Thanks

Maybe her stress levels went down?

Is she extremely thin? When I was extremely thin I did not have periods for about 2 years. When I gained some weight they came back.

I would direct that friend to her OB/GYN for a thorough checkup. Maybe a lot of things---hormone levels, ovarian problems, pituatary problems, eating disorders, or extremely athletic conditioning---- who can say. Really, that would be a question and/or problem for her doctor to figure out and discuss with her.

anorexia? there are a ton of probs as mentioned ab0ve;

This is something she really needs to talk with her OB/GYN about. There are so many things to consider and there are too many factors that we don't know. I suggest that she call her GYN and have a talk with her/him. They definitely would know her better than we would.
