OK, so here it goes..on interview, full time night shift at nursing home, sub acute unit. Told I am RN supervisor, no assignment , just house supervisor. Little did I know, they were preparing to fire existing RNs for calling off, because existing RNs were given a double assignment (entire sub acute floor of 25, with very high acuity) ...so they think they have me bondoogled, then I am on my first shift and of course the RN called off again, so I am alone, but the DON is there. I have 2 units full of IVs, tubes, I/O, foleys, wound vacs, PICCS, O2, breathing tx, narc prns out the orifice, and 2 CNAs who know how to do nothing but interrupt me every 3 seconds of shift. 2:30 am system crashes, and DON tells me to manually print out EMAR and ETAR of 500 pages and chart manually. No possible way, shape time, with massive workload by 3am , and another 2 med passes ahead...so I suggested that going forward we have better staffing because I will not put license on line for anyone, and she threw me out of the building at 3 am.

Wow! You definitely dodged a bullet. Have you considered filing a report with the State? That sounds over the top, to say the least...
Not much to report other than the DON is a bitter , nasty woman who has pissed off the staff so badly she is now working about 24/7 to cover for all the call offs. She has only been there about 2 months...and not really that surprising , like other new DONs , she comes in like a steam roller, alienates everyone and will likely be out of a job before the winter is over. They probably did me a favor.

Wow. What an experience. That institution will continue to deteriorate if they treat there nursing like that. Perhaps professional consultant would be considered. No one should be treated so poorly

I would have sent her a thank you card.

Consider yourself lucky. There are many things worse than getting fired...namely, working in a dumpster fire like that.
Better luck next time.

And a Christmas card. And a Hannukah card. And a Kwanzaa card. I would sing while I was dumpster-diving rather than work in a place like that.

Hahahahahahaha! That DON is a troll! She saved you from a nightmare. The second she "threw me out" all that would be left was a cloud of dust, the ID badge and facility keys! I'd rather go back to Iraq. For free.
