Okay, after lurking here for a LONG time and finally getting my first job out of school and getting all of my transcripts, etc., I am on track to start October 1st, RN-BSN. Thinking about going on for my MSN, but I'm sticking to BSN for now since they're not giving out the bachelor's degree until the end now (this site is so very helpful!). Anyone else starting or hoping to start 10/1?

How long did it take to be accepted and get a scheduled start date after you applied and submitted your transcripts? I want to get started ASAP, but would like an idea how long my wait is likely to be. TIA

I am starting the RN-BSN program in October as well! Just waiting on financial aid to go through.

I applied even before I got my RN license back in June. But if you are already working as a nurse, the process shouldn't been that long. I would say if you apply now, you can start in Nov. I believe everything has to be sent in and paid for by the 21st of the month prior to your start month. The process would have been quick if I had my license and a job when I applied.

You guys will love WGU! It's awesome. I started in June and am almost done. Just one class left (fingers crossed).
Well, I spoke too soon... I forgot about a CLEP test I took a few years ago, and they need a transcript from them, which can apparently take up to 3 weeks!! So it's looking like a November start for me after all.

You started in June 2013? How many classes did you have to take?
Quite a few, 50CU. But I'm a nut and did nothing else but work and study. My husband probably forgot my name. :) I'm not done yet, still have one test next week which is a 50/50 chance I'll pass. If I pass, I graduate!
featherzRN... That is wonderful to be finishing so soon! Good luck on your test!!! :)
So u did all that in 3 months? Wow! That's motivating to me! Congrats!

Hello,
I am hoping to begin at WGU on 10/1. I have never had any online education, but have many years of post-grad education in the traditional format. I am anxious about the usual things, i.e. cost, time to complete degrees, competitiveness in the market place, etc. I plan to take the RN-MSN route, as I have a B.A and Master's as a social worker. I have to take statistics over again, and bio-chemistry...wow, how does one do this at home?? Any pointers?

Biochem is easy to do at home. It's an arts and crafts project made into a bunch of powerpoints. There's a 20-day plan to get it done in that timeframe, but many of us have done it even quicker than that. Statistics is not bad, it's a proctored exam - but currently it's a 'concepts' test which just asks you to understand the statistics and methods, no actual math. So don't stress! :)
