  1. featherzRN... That is wonderful to be finishing so soon! Good luck on your test!!! :)
  2. I am starting the RN-BSN program in October as well! Just waiting on financial aid to go through.
  3. Have you looked into LTC or rehab facilities? I know there are many new grads having hard time finding jobs in hospitals. Many of my classmates found jobs in LTC and skilled nursing facilities. Some were able to get a hospital job but its like an hour away. Good luck and don't get discourage. Now and days it takes 6months or more to land a job!
  4. Looks good but I would leave out "I feel"
  5. I think the job market for a BSN new grad in the Cleveland area is better than new grads with an ADN. Cleveland does have several major hospitals (Cleveland Clinic, Metro Health, and University Hospital) that are always hiring new grads. Having a BSN is plus. My suggestion is to work as a nurse intern or aide while in school. Good luck to you!!!
  6. H/L means hep locked
  7. It depends on what they told you during the interview. I was told by one of the places I interviewed for that they will make their decision by the end of the week. Didn't hear back from them the following week so I knew I wasn't chosen. Plus I was gonna turn it down because I didn't feel comfortable as a new grad accepting a night supervisor position for a 170 bed LTC facility. Lucky I interviewed at another facility where I could definitely see myself working there forever that same week and was told it will be a couple weeks. I emailed a thank you letter stating my interest the next day and another email a week and half later checking if they made their decision and that I was still very interested. The DON replied right away that she will let me know by the end of the week. A couple days later I got the job the offer and excitedly accepted the position. So basically, if you really want the job, keep trying to contact them and let them know your interest. But if they are not responding to your emails or phone calls, would you really want to work there anyway?
  8. I am willing to look at your résumé. Just send me a PM and I will reply with my email address.
  9. Did you already accept the offer? I would call and explain that you are not able to accept the offer at this time in your life because you have decided to not relocate. I know it is hard for new grads to get offers now and days but if relocating is holding you back from accepting this job offer then what else can you do but wait for another one closer to you. Good luck!
  10. Yay Congrats Tiff! I'm glad it all worked out for you... More money and close to home! Wish the grads here in Ohio got offers that quick from hospitals. Most grads have to wait weeks to months after an interview to get an offer.
  11. I agree that resume and cover letters are essentials for getting job interviews. My classmate was wondering why she wasn't getting any calls for interviews and had me look at her resume and cover letter. I fixed it up for her and within a week she started getting interviews left and right. I would be more than happy to help you with yours.
  12. ADN nurse here in Ohio. Graduated in May and took my NCLEX July 9th, license number posted on BON July 12th and that's when I applied to everywhere within a 50 mile radius. 2 interviews at 2 different LTC facilities and 1 phone interview with a major hospital 3 weeks later. Exactly 2 weeks after my interview at one of the LTC facilities I fell in love with, offered me a part time position which I gladly accepted because I love geriatrics. At first I wanted full time but since it is 8 hr shifts 2:30pm-11:00pm and having 3 kids, I realized I would never see my children. Working part time will also allow me to focus on getting my BSN. I guess everything happens for a reason! Do not get discourage if you are not getting job offers. The perfect job will come along soon enough!
  13. These are really good advice. I am a new RN grad with no experience except school. I just accepted a job offer for a part time position at a LTC facility 2:30pm-11:00pm. I will be responsible for 30 residents and 3 STNAs... There are no charge nurses, the RNs are response for their own unit. I think once we get our routine going, everything will be fine. Just remember to ask for help if needed and never take short cuts during med pass!
