Final grades...Aggh!!

So, I got a B in my OB/Peds course. It had all come down to my final exam..I needed a 90, I got an 86, final grade was a 92.3 when I needed a 93 for an A. Disappointing, but I can live with it. At least I passed, right?

Then, 3 or 4 days after the final exam, I got an e-mail from the instructor. "Just to let you all know, I curved the final exam. You'll have your final course grades in a week."

So, I'll either be that much closer to an A and still miss it (even more disappointing), or I'll get my A. Either way, I won't know for days! AUGHH! The control freak in me is freaking out :banghead::banghead: Thanks for reading my vent :chuckle

I doubt if you'll get much sympathy here, there are some people who will be flunking out of their programs on these boards.

No grade curving at my school. That must be nice!

As some of my instructors tell us if you get a passing grade kiss the ground and keep walking.

I'd never made less than an A in any class, till my OB rotation this semester. I got a C, and I thank God for it. I'm so glad that rotation is over. Last day of class, I ran out of there like a scalded dog. Like I owed someone money.

My GPA took a hit, but I will never again have to do an OB rotation, and that's a fair exchange in my book.

As we say in my school C stands for continue, no curving, no mercy, take your grade and move on, your one step closer enjoy it!

Congrats to you for a successful semester! I do hope you get the A you are hoping for. :)

You have every right to hope for an A, so don't feel one bit guilty about doing that :)

That being said, if it's a B, don't gripe about not getting the A. Smile and nod and be happy with the B, because passing the class and getting through school is what matters in the end.

I know how frustrated you are! We took our final on Friday and they wont post grades until Tuesday. Its making for a LONG weekend! I had to make a 93 on the final for my A. I also know how frustrating it is for people to tell you to just be happy you are passing. I have enjoyed a 4.0 throughout school so I am very dedicated to maintaining it. Be proud you are doing so well!! And just remember.. a high B is REALLY good!

I had the same situation in the spring (well, minus the curving!). I got a 92.something and missed the A - first B since starting my pre-reqs. I don't mind telling you it still stings, but no, I don't complain. There are many that fail out and many more right on the edge. But I do work hard for my A's and I'm not embarrassed about that.

Best of luck to you with it!

Kelly

Ditto......I've had a 4.0 until this first semester of NS and missed it by 0.4 of a point. It burns, it stings and I even shed a few tears. Don't let others make you feel bad for wanting that A. The waiting sucks, and I feel for ya. I hope you get it, but just in case I'll give you the advice my husband gave me when I cried over my B...he said "in the end employers aren't going to ask if you were an A student or a B student". (barely helped me but it is a voice of logic when us overachievers get knocked down LOL)

Good Luck!!!!
