Fevers

So I got in trouble by a parent today, because her kid came saying she had a headache and her eyes were watery, it seemed like she had allergies and she had NO fever. So I sent her back to class and that was that. She came again later, once again NO fever and same symptoms. My database I usually use was not working, so I can only get on the website based one and called mom from her cell, because her work number was not on there and I usually call her work number. I left a message and told the student to go back to class, and I will try again. I tried again, she didn't answer and the student didn't come back again.

Then came the end of the day and mom came in angry, she said that no one called her and that her daughter had a fever. I said I did, but she didn't answer. She said I'm suppose to call work not her cell. I apologized and explained to her my database was not working, so I only used the website one we have and that's the only number that showed up. She insulted me, telling me that next time use my brain and use the front office to get the number (I know I probably should of done that, but I didn't know she didn't have her phone with her at work.) I then explained that her daughter didn't have a fever at all the times she came, but she was complaining of feeling bad. She said I should of caught it and left angrily.

I know I was in wrong here, but I mean temperature changes during the day, and if she got a fever later the day, doesn't mean she had one earlier that day. It makes me feel like I did the most horrible thing and not reaching her mother is as horrible as if I killed a puppy or something, when I couldn't have caught it before. Did I do anything bad? I mean I'll do that next time to go to the front to call mom but my computer is working now, so I'm not going to have any issues anymore.

Oh, those Mama Bear parents. Can't do anything to please them. Just let it roll off - she will find something else to be peeved about this week.

You did nothing wrong, that mom needs a glass (or three) of wine.

sounds like Mom ws the one who was hot, not the kid. aseriously people, 85 phone numbers, emails,,,,what else do we need to do to get in touch with someone..and she didnt even have a fever!!
