Feeling pretty darn good!

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post!

I just found out that I've been accepted into Villanova's School of Nurse Anesthesia program for Fall 2006!

I'm curious as to what anyone who may have attended or will be attending Villanova's program has to say in the way of financial aid planning, financial pointers, which course(s) to take in advance prior to Fall 2006, etc...

Congratulations! And welcome to the BB!! I would take as many of the core courses as you can before you start. Since you have a little time, I would try and knock at least 6 of them out of the way such as Pharm, patho, ethics etc. Best of luck.

I'm a little confused by this rec. Take as many of the core courses as you can before you start? For grad. credit? Forgive my noobie-ness, but it would be appreciated if you could elaborate on that. Do you mean you can take courses before entrance into the program that would apply toward your degree decreasing the number of courses you would have to take while offically enrolled?

There are a certain amount of classes you can take before your actual anesthesia block classes start. For my school anyone can take Theory, Health Policy and Finance, and Nursing Research prior to starting. Taking these classes before your actual anesthesia classes start will alleviate a HUGE amount of time and frustration. Imagine really needing to study renal physiology but knowing you have a paper due each week in one of these classes when the reality of it is that your anesthesia classes matter more, but these "fluff" classes count just as much on paper as the other courses.

Your life will be much, much easier if you get these classes out of the way beforehand.

CONGRATS!

Some may disagree, but the worst part is behind you. Now you begin the enjoyable part, and get to learn anesthesia

villa nova's program is front loaded - so although taking courses ahead of time will lighten the load in the beginning - it isn't so bad because you are not bombarded w/ clinical from the get go

Wow! Good for you...welcome! :balloons:

Congratulations, DE ...

Have you been accepted into next year's starting class, or is it a typo?

I'm starting Villanova this fall. I'm still trying to navigate the financial aid crap myself. I would recommed taking a few courses before you start, especially pharm and pathophys, but Bette recommends that you don't take too many because it may mess up your financial aid (you need to maintain a certain number of credits for full-time status).
