FDU 2 year accelerated program! (Fairleigh Dickinson University)

Hello,

I recently got an acceptance letter from FDU.

It says, NURSING ACCELERATED- 2 YEAR PROGRAM.

I thought every accelerated program is about 15 months, not 2 years.

Maybe because I don't have a BA degree at the time of application? (I am graduating from Rutgers this May)

Does anyone have any information about this program?

Also I am worried about the cost too :(

So I am waiting for UMDNJ and Hunter college's decision letters (cheaper than FDU).

If anyone is/was in FDU 2 year program, would you share with me?

Thank you!!

Glad to hear you got accepted!! Congrats!! :) Haven't heard anything yet. I'm so nervous.

Thank you spreadlove!!! I applied quite early (like the first week of January?) so I heard from them on Feb 24, 2011. Still not sure if I want to go here because of price and still waiting for other schools...Best of luck to you spreadlove!!!!! Let me know if you find out! :D

Still no word yet. Btw the info on the website states that if you don't qualify for the one year program you will be placed in the 2 year program. :)

yea! thank you!! :) I contacted the director of ABSN program and she said since I didn't take Bioethics (or Medical Ethics) and Economics, I cannot be qualified for 1 year ABSN program even though I finished all my other pre-requisites. also she said "The two year program begins around 3:00 pm for classes and some classes are at 5:00. The tuition is in the low 60,000." the program schedule looks flexible, students technically can hold a part/full time jobs...but again, the price is too high :( hope i get into other cheaper schools like UMDNJ or Hunter.....GOOD LUCK SPREADLOVE!!! :D

I graduated from FDU in August. The majority of the classes start at 5PM and run until late evening. Clinicals except for Home care (clinical during the day) were all in the evening and either started at 5 pm and went to 11 or 12 pm. It is possible to work and do school but you need to be very structured with your time. I worked FT and completed the 2 yr program. However, I sacrificed alot of my personal time to get through the program. If you can get into a state school, I would go that route. FDU is very expensive....however overall I think the program was a good one. If you have any specific questions, I'll be happy to answer...

Just sent you an email .. hope I can answer your questions.

Hey all, I recently just got a conditional acceptance letter for the 2 year accelerated program at Fairleigh Dickinson (I too was missing Bioethics). Being new to this school I was wondering how this program was in terms of classes and instructors? and I am slightly nervous about the combination of FT work with nursing school..I work in Brooklyn as an EMT and although I could pull off a full time schedule in 2 days of the week, I am worried it may destroy my study time....any input is greatly appreciated...thank you!!

Danielle

i managed to work FT and go to school and get good grades. It did come with some personal time sacrifice though. All I did was study on the weekends, since I had a M-F job. As with any school you have some really good professors that care and want to see their students do well and others that are not so great and then you have those in between.

I wish you luck in your studies!

I was also accepted to the FDU program and I am taking Economics this summer online to avoid paying an extra three grand during the years. I will be entering this Fall 2011 and was my first pick so I am super excited.

The downside I have though is that there are federal loan for nursing programs but based on my FAFSA I got nothing but Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans. Been trying to get into these Loan programs for the longest to contract with a hospital in the local area for a few years

Great this thread really helps me because I think I will have to work as well while attending school as I did before. I had no idea it costs so much and I will probably have to take out loans and I had been asking for quite some time how much school was.

Can anyone recommend some loan programs or some type of way of paying for nursing school? With the way the economy is going I'm more afraid that I could not find work as a new nurse

I see you also applied to UMDNJ I had to let that one go because I refuse to take Chemistry again. Sorry but Chemistry isn't one of my strong points so I expect to get a rejection letter from them :) Thank God I planned to go FDU
