FCCJ Application......

not aware of any quota.. but more men are beginning to appear in the new sections.. I am not sure if it is the school or just more qualified male applicants. I am in the 3rd term and we started with about 25 males out of 144 students. Good luck.

I'm finishing Microbiology during the summer and about to take the NAT. Was it difficult and do you have any suggestion on getting ready for it? I bought the study guide and hear that it's not that much help. My grades are good , but I have taken any math course in a while (besides CHM). My basic math skills might be a bit weak.

I bought the arco version of the review..... it sort of helped me. It gives you an idea of how the questions will be formatted but you can also get examples from the fccj website for the NAT. There is a link on their page for the NAT sample questions. I didn't spend a huge amount of time studying for it. IMHO, you either know the material or you don't. The study guide doesn't have the same questions that will appear on the test so studying those will only get you a good score on the study test. My advice: Take your time and read everything carefully, its not hard but the "timed" aspect can make you rush thru it and make some dumb mistakes.

Good luck on getting in! Your 218 is a good number. I got in with 224 which was the highest I have heard. I am in third term now at FCCJ. I know how excruciating the wait for the letter is! I was stalking the mailman for weeks! :)

I disagree about the study thing. I bought the ARCO book also and I felt it really helped me. It will also get you prepared for the types of questions that you will be asked in nursing school and help you think critically. The timed part of the NAT was really tough for me. I got 98th & 99th percentile on all the sections except the math (which I got 94), but you really had to think fast with the types of questions it asked. (Particularly the nonverbal.)

Mine was the same semester you were applying for (Fall Term) and they said the same thing. 6-8 weeks from June 1st. I got my letter on July 7th, so it was really 5 weeks! Keep holding on! I know it is excruciating! :)

I am in 3rd term now. I would say that classes are more intense because it is Pediatrics and OB (8 weeks each) where everything is taught very quickly, but not necessarily more difficult. I personally thought Adult Health I was more difficult. As far as schedule, I am in OB first. You have 5 clinical days that are 12 hours. Some sections have 1 a week for 5 weeks. I chose a section that had clinicals every other Thursday and Friday. Which means I have had two weeks where I was in a clinical two days in a row (which is very tiring), but then a week with no clinicals. Class and test are on the same day. So it is at the most 3 days a week. Pediatrics is pretty much the same 12 hour clinical days and class/test on the same day. So that is only 2 days a week.

There are projects/journal presentations, but the work outside class is really just studying. I find this semester to be much less stressful than 1st term and Adult Health. (Psych was great)

Hello SBC... I am in first term right now. I got my acceptance letter 4 weeks to the day after the deadline even though they said 8 weeks. The wait is hard but enjoy this time now!! Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer.
