Jan 21, 201016 yr Hello I'm wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall 2010 nursing program @ BMCC. I was able to change my curriculum to "NUR-PCN" and was wondering what comes next. Thanks
Feb 21, 201016 yr Hi all!I am interested in applying to BMCC and trying to figure out the process from reading the website but it's all very confusing. Do you have to be a student there for a certain amount of time before you get into the Clinical Nursing sequence? I think I would have to take MAT104 and ENG but that's it...so if I were to take those courses in the summer would I be able to start the Clinical Nursing sequence in the Fall? Thanks for your help =)Hi Starlette,You have to be matriculated as a prenursing student for at least one semester before you can apply to the Clinical Nursing Sequence. They start accepting prospective students in the clinicals for fall before June so it might be a bit too late for you if you will just start in the summer taking Mat104 and ENG. But pls. check with the prenursing advisor just to make sure.Dee
Feb 21, 201016 yr Hi! I'm actually in the same boat! I'm taking Math 104 and Psych 100 right now. Last semester, I took English 101. Could I take Chem in Summer Session 1 and Bio in Summer Session 2??Hi Kris,They don't usually offer science courses during Summer 2 session as this is a very short session. You'll be able to take Chem in Summer Session 1 though. Dee
Feb 22, 201016 yr Author Hello Dee,So we're almost at the end of the month. Would you know when we need to start heading into the nursing dept. for the Nursing Program application? I'm so anxious and worst yet that since I skipped off on this semester I feel that I will have a hard time getting back with the program. How are you doing with your scheduled courses? Bilis

BilisHi Bilis,Unfortunately I will not be able to get into the Fall program as they only transfer liberal arts students 3x a year, the next one in second week of June. They don't want to change my status as I am not yet finished w/ the rest of the evening program prereqs (still taking micro and dev psych this Spring). By June, Sierra says the Fall 2010 program will already be filled up so I am too late to get into it. So like you, I have to skip one semester
Feb 22, 201016 yr Author Hi Dee..Uff bummer...it's like a rollercoaster. I'm sorry, but it seems you're on the same boat I was a year back. Somehow they make it totally impossible for one to get ahead. Keep your head up and finish, that's what counts at the end. When did you go see the coordinator? I have completed all the prereqs and now just waiting to apply in March for the Fall semester in hopes to get in. Have you seen any notes posted on the door? Thanks Bilis

THere was a note hanging on his door at that time about the liberal arts transfer and it says that their new rule of transferring just 3x a year started in November 2009. I haven't checked his office door recently so I'm not sure if there are new notes but I'll check on Wednesday. It's good that you reminded me. And thanks for the vote of confidence!Best,Dee
Mar 3, 201016 yr Hey Bilis,I just saw a new note on a certain somebody's door saying that those who are interested in the fall program (w/ prenursing major of course) should make an appointment between March 22 and May 26. D
Mar 3, 201016 yr Author Dee, :tku: so much. You saved me a trip to Manhattan. I had called the office in Feb., but a usual no one knows anything...huge secret to apply. Anyway, I thank you for the valuable information. BTW, when will you be able to apply? Bilis

I think you have to sign up first for an appointment to set up a date when you can see him. As for me, I am not yet sure when they start making appointments for the Spring semester since I am ineligible to apply this fall. I have to transfer first to the prenursing major in June before I can apply.
Mar 8, 201016 yr Hi guys. I hope someone could answer some of my question since I am planning to transfer to BMCC this coming fall.I'm transferring from another CUNY college. I have finished all the pre-reqs but unfortunately I got Bs on A&P1 and Gen. Psych. I know these 2 are really important that's why I am going to retake both this fall when I transfer there. Does the nursing program in BMCC look at the whole grades or just the key courses? (eng1 psy1 a&p1 mat102)I am asking this question because I got 2 Cs on A&P2 and micro bio. Should I even bother retaking these or they're good enough for me to get in the program? What's the difference between the morning and evening classes when it comes to pre-reqs? I know that you need to finish all the pre-reqs to get in the evening class. But, do they look at the whole grade (including the ENG102, A&P2, etc) for the evening class or just the 4 key courses?Thank you guys! I really need your help since the BMCC website is really complicated and does not answer all these question. TYTY :redpinkhe

TYTY :redpinkheHi NYSstudent,The 4 courses that determine your Pre-clinical Index GPA are: Bio425, Eng101, Psy100, & Mat104, these courses you need to pull all A's if possible to be considered to apply for the nursing program. If you are retaking Bio425 and Psy100, I'm assuming you have A's on the other 2 courses. If that's so then you need to attempt to get both A's on the courses you are retaking to apply. Once you are in the nursing program, you need to maintain a 2.5GPA. If you intend on applying for the evening program, you must have Bio425,426,420, Psy100, Mat104, Eng101, Psy220 or Soc100 pre-reqs completed before you can apply. Spe 100 and Eng 201 can be taken during your clinical phase. As far as I'm concerned BMCC requires Che118 or 221 as pre-req for A&P or if you transfered a Chem course you can use it as your Gen Elective credits. If you want to apply for the day program only the 4 main courses is all you need, but of course with a GPA of 3.77 or higher on those 4 courses. Although if I'm not mistaken the Spring 10 semester's GPA cutoff was 3.86 daytime and 3.77 evening. It's to your discretion if you want to retake the other courses for a higher GPA, but technically you don't have to unless you have grades lower than a "C". If your pre-clinical Index GPA is high enough you're able to apply. Hope this helps, as this is how I understand it. Good luck, Bilis
