Fall 2010 nursing program @ BMCC

Hello I'm wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall 2010 nursing program @ BMCC. I was able to change my curriculum to "NUR-PCN" and was wondering what comes next. Thanks

Hi bilis,

I'm hoping to get into the Fall program too! I'm targeting the evening section and I still need to finish micro and dev. psy this Spring before getting in. I'm still at Liberal arts Dept. and can't change into PCN until I finished all prereqs needed. Are you into the day or evening program? If you're already accepted for Fall then you'll probably get a call for the orientation around July. I heard they also call those who got accepted to pick up their packet requirements before starting the Nursing class. Goodluck and hope to meet you in Fall!

Hi Dee,

I still have to apply i guess in March. At least that's what **** told me. I do have all the reqs to start the eve/weekend program. I've read dozens of posts looking for answers to this never ending journey. Will u be taking micro and dev. psy this spring sem?

Yes, I am taking micro and dev.psy this Spring then hopefully will start the evening program in Fall. I love this board, if not for this, I'll probably won't know where and how to navigate BMCC. They just don't tell you anything when you apply! I wouldn't even know that you have to get all A's in 4 prereqs to be able to get in if not reading previous posts about BMCC. I had a B+ in Eng101 in my previous school so I took it again last semester and got an A = )

So you don't have any prereqs left to take this Spring? How come you didn't apply for the Spring program, if you don't mind me asking?

I just finished my prereqs Fall 09. I was retaking AP1 & Psy100 because I had them removed to better my chances. I'm a transfer student from El Paso, TX. I'm wondering why you weren't able to change you're curriculum to PCN if you have all the 4 prereqs specified.

It's because I'm taking the evening program so I have to finish all prereqs for the evening program w/c include APII, Dev.Psy(or Socio), Eng2 and Micro. They don't want to change my status to PCN from liberal arts until I finished all of them (which actually doesn't makes sense). If I'll take the morning program then I could have already changed it since the morning program just needs the 4 prereqs Eng101, AP1, Mat104, Psy100 to get in.

Trying to change my status to PCN from liberal arts is very confusing to me but I just go with whatever they want me to do. :uhoh3:

geez...what a drag. I hope I'm able to get into the program. Do you know if they calculate your overall gpa, is it a factor when applying to the program? I have a 3.93 for the 4 prereqs and my overall gpa is lower. I'm a little confused about that. So if ***** didn't change your curriculum, how will you be able to apply for the nursing program in the Fall? Will you apply for the nursing program in March? or have you already?

That's what I asked in the board that I've been following: https://allnurses.com/ny-nursing-programs/any-applicants-fall-391073.html

My former classmate who applied for the Spring '10 day program told me that both day and evening program just calculate the GPA for the 4 PCN reqt's. I guess a lot more people entering the day program have higher GPAs as according to one post, the daytime GPA calculated for this Spring sem is 3.86 and the evening is 3.77.

I haven't applied yet. I'm planning to have my curriculum change as well as apply for the program in March.

okay of course..hopefully it works out good for you and of course if I get in to meet you as well. Do you know if I would have to be enrolled (taking a class) while I wait to apply to the nursing program? I have all the req courses finished and pretty much have nothing else to take. Will you be applying to other schools as back up?

If you already took one semester of pre-clinicals at BMCC then I think you're ok although you do have to ask ***** that just to be sure. I'm not applying to any other school as BMCC is the only school that is convenient for me for the evening/weekend schedule since I work full time in Manhattan. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to get in this Fall .

Goodluck to you as well and hopefully we'll be classmates this Fall (since there is usually only one evening class for the first clinical subject)!

I'm guessing you wouldn't have to. I just read the attached thread. You have a 4.0 on the pre-clinical reqs. Good for you.

Thanks :D. Interestingly, I found English as my toughest subject. I love AP I and II and I'm looking forward to micro next week :lol2:
