Got my acceptance letter - NOT excited
It would sound hypocritical for me to say that I didn't get excited when I got my acceptance letter. Honestly, I did get excited when I read the first few words of the letter "We are pleased to inform you that..." I knew that this is it. Finally my dream is one step closer. After 3 years of roller coaster, finally a school that took my transcript,my essay, and me seriously. The excitement lasted for 30 minutes, until I realized the situation that I'm going to be in in the next 2 years. I could just imagine - me standing in front of a patient during clinicals.. and not knowing what to do. The tuition that I have to pay. The drama. The stress. It makes me want to vomit just thinking about it (I don't mean literally). I have this tendency of getting extremely anxious that my mind just goes blank. It's making me nervous just thinking that it's 4months away from stepping on that school and wearing my clinical uniform. I am ready, I hope I am. I'm a person that don't study everyday. I'll probably need to change that attitude. Also, I will be working during the day and going to school at night (until 10:30pm.) I think I am going crazy. I want to know what to expect during Fundamentals? Med Surge? Clinicals? Which one do you think is the hardest? So, what did you feel after you read your acceptance letter?

Fall 2010 nursing program @ BMCC
Thanks again for the informative responses. I went to BMCC earlier today and asked if I could take one key-course this summer. And they said it's possible (even though my application is for the fall). BTW. The campus is nice even though I almost got lost getting there. hm that sucks. I cannot wait another year to apply for the program. 2011 is 1 year til the end of the world 2012! J/k but seriously I'm not getting any younger! I'm 22 I badly need to finish school - I would trade my kidney if I have too. That's how desperate I am now. LOL! Is there a solution to prevent this disaster (getting delayed) from happening? What if I declare my major as Pre-clinical student before entering bmcc. I'll be taking ENG101 this summer. and Gen.Psych and MAT104 this fall. I'm still wondering if it's possible for me to apply to the program even though I'm still taking the some key-courses? I asked them the deadline to apply for the spring semester and they said it's November 11. Apparently, grades aren't up til December. sigh sigh. Regardless - still hoping to get in the spring '11.:crying2: Thanks again Bilis:redbeathe and ddeguzman2:redbeathe

Fall 2010 nursing program @ BMCC
Thank you so much for the response. Actually I've taken all the pre-requisites for the nursing program. (Dev. Psych, MicroBio, A&P2, Socio, SPE100, ENG201, CHE118 etc.)The only thing that's missing are the nursing courses/clinicals. I have tried to apply to private colleges around NYC but couldn't afford the tuition. If ever I decided to apply this fall in BMCC, I would definitely retake ENG101 and PSYCH1, and MAT104 too. (I already got A on my A&P1.) Do you think it's advisable to take these 3 together? I've heard problems about students missing a semester because their major is liberal arts and couldn't apply to the nursing program. I'm not sure if I understand it right. Can I apply to the program while taking the 3 key-courses or do I need to wait till the end of the semester? One last thing, how are the clinical professors in BMCC? How are the nursing students? I hope there's no drama. I'll be working as a part-time Nurse Tech while going to school. Would that be an advantage for me during clinicals? I've been studying my butt off trying to get in a program but it's really hard (and I know it's going to get harder but I am ready!) Sorry if I got too many questions. I just really need to ask a BMCC student about this since counselors don't help me much /seriously/. TYTY:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe

Fall 2010 nursing program @ BMCC
Hi guys. I hope someone could answer some of my question since I am planning to transfer to BMCC this coming fall. I'm transferring from another CUNY college. I have finished all the pre-reqs but unfortunately I got Bs on A&P1 and Gen. Psych. I know these 2 are really important that's why I am going to retake both this fall when I transfer there. Does the nursing program in BMCC look at the whole grades or just the key courses? (eng1 psy1 a&p1 mat102) I am asking this question because I got 2 Cs on A&P2 and micro bio. Should I even bother retaking these or they're good enough for me to get in the program? What's the difference between the morning and evening classes when it comes to pre-reqs? I know that you need to finish all the pre-reqs to get in the evening class. But, do they look at the whole grade (including the ENG102, A&P2, etc) for the evening class or just the 4 key courses? Thank you guys! I really need your help since the BMCC website is really complicated and does not answer all these question. TYTY :redpinkhe

Need Some Help
Hi all. This is my very first post to this forum. Thanks in advance! :) I'm currently in a community college doing my pre-reqs for an ADN, but unfortunately I was not able to get straight As on them. I have 1 C and 1 B, ENG1 and A&P1. I want to transfer to another school this fall of 2010. My problem is I don't know where/how to retake those 2 pre-reqs this spring or summer. I don't want to waste time nor take both this fall. The school that I am attending now wouldn't allow me to retake the 2 courses since B and C are passing grades. Any advice on how to take the 2 important courses this summer? Anyone have an idea where to take it? Online? I'm in NYC btw. Thanks everyone!
