fake CPR cert.

hello everyone, im new to this site but i wanted to share something. there was a hospital near by, who had a "lay off" of 70 + employess. I guess 1 employee was audited & it turned out the this person's CPR cert. was a fake. The hospital decided to audit more RN nurses and it turned out the more then 70 of them had a fake CPR cert. soo crazy right? i mean out of all the stupid things that they could have pulled. i can not beleive it either. i just dont get it. If you are going to chose a career like this why not make sure you are doing it for all the right reasons right?

all I can say is OMG! Thats just horrible. Glad they got caught.

WOW!!!! WHY????

So now they are all looking for jobs???!!!!!:banghead:

Did the staff know their CPR was fake or was someone issueing them and trying to pass the certs off as legit to the nurses carrying them?

What a stupid way to lose your job :(

How did you find this out? Was this in the news? I find it hard to believe that 70 nurses from the same hospital had fake CPR certs...especially since CPR courses are a piece of cake...I wonder if it is more of an issue where they were scammed and took a course from someone that was not approved but took their money and gave them phony cards.

There was a little blurb about this in my newspaper a couple of weeks ago. It's true. Apparantly the actual cards were forgeries.

rut roh the jig is up .... crazy nurses and those other people....

Okay, how do you even START that conversation with someone?

"Hey, Cindy Sue, I gotta quick way for you not to have to sit thru the CPR renewal class, got 20 bucks?"

You watch, we'll start having to submit our BLS, Heartsaver, ACLS cards to the board with our renewals....

Here's a different point of view, blaming the hospital:

About 50 out of 3,200 workers were caught. This post contains a comment by someone working for the hospital system. They wrote:

I work here and was stunned to hear about this as I know several who I work with also terminated. I am so embarrassed by their behavior and ashamed that professions (not just registered nurses were fired. Not sure if news knows about this) were highlighted in all the news. All I can say is that the behavior of those fired DO NOT reflect at all on nurses as a whole and by far there are many more honest workers with solid work ethics than the 4 dozen mentioned.
