Failed on 1st attempt

I feel so awful about failing my nclex. I'm even contemplating a different career. I put myself through 2 years of pure hell to become a failure. I don't know what else to do or try to pass. How do i find out when i can test again in Michigan? Also what study materials can i use that are fairly inexpensive. I got all 265 questions and i felt good until about question 140 and then i started feeling uneasy as the questions kept coming. Please help.

I'm sorry you failed your NCLEX but please don't get discouraged! The NCLEX is not an easy exam.

According to Kaplan, you can retake your exam in 45 days.

Personally, I just did a ton of questions. I brought the Saunders book and checked out the Kaplan "Strategies, Practice, and Review" book from the library. My friend also brought the NCSBN q&a bank so I did a few sets of those with her. I did about 2,000-2,500 questions total between the three resources.

But honestly, on the exam, there is going to be stuff you won't know. I walked out feeling so horrible about myself (I went to question 150) and the NCLEX is made to make you feel bad. Good luck!

How have you studied? What have you used so far?

I am struggling with passing this nclex rn as well. I ve taken it 3x and used saunders, nclex made incredibly easy.. I know my content iam just not sure where to go with this.. iam debating on doing the Kaplan review.. I am soOoO SICK OF THIS TEST!! I just cannot believe I haven't passed it. Any suggestions... iam in florida but taking it thru new York this next time because I refuse to do a $3,000 review.. which I might even have to end up doing when endorcing it in florida... ughhhhh help!! super frustrated.

Does Florida not require you to have worked a certain amount of hours in the state in which you were licensed prior to approval for endorsement? If they do, you might want to consider a closer state for licensure due to New York being quite the distance for commuting.

That being said, if you feel you might have to come up with the $3K anyway, seems to me it would be far less stressful in the long run to just stick with the exam in Florida. Not meaning to burst your bubble, but finding a job as a new grad will be difficult enough without the process of endorsement. Depending on the state, you may be required to do additional clinical hours...aka work for free...if your state's nursing program required fewer hours than another's.

Please research this thoroughly before changing your desired testing state. Good luck to you, Hun!

No florida doesn't require all of that, just a fee.. I might have to do the remedial anyways but we will see. Iam going to try the Kaplan review and uworld and see what happens.. its all money from here on out... atleast that's what it seems like

Did you email the BON to clarify? i tested in FL recently i remember specifically reading on their website you have to do 2 years work experience in the state or territory you were licensed before you can endorse there.

Even if that doesn't turn out to be the case why not do the remedial course seems less of an hassle if you would have to do it any way.

Yes I read the requirements and I have a friend that just did it that way and hes waiting for his florida lic takes about 15 days. I already sent my application so iam just going to see what happens.. probably going to go thru with the Kaplan and if florida still wants me to do the review which iam sure they will .. I guess ill do it then. I have had a lot of friends that did the Kaplan and it worked out for them.. wish me luck.

UWorld and PDA lacharity

If your going to use Uworld theres no need to do a kaplan review, Uworld is a review by itself.

I thought Uworld was a question bank...?

Florida will require for you to do a remedial course. They will not accept the Kaplan Review. There's a list of the schools approved for the Remedial Course. I'm in Florida doing a remedial course for LPN and it's about $1500 and it's just about the same for RN. I would say do that first before doing the Kaplan Review.

I thought Uworld was a question bank...?

Technically it is but its also a quasi content review because of the detailed rationales.
