i failed the 3rd time(need help)

Published

Hi guys i just recieve my result and i failed again,i been reading alot of discussion from this website, never got the chance to post a msg. until now, guess im just really down right now,and just needed some support mentally, emotionally.this is the only place where i feel comfotable expressing my self coz i know people here really understand what we who tried so hard and yet failed numerous times feels.just need some advice where to start, what to do from here.(if you experience this what did you do to overcome it).

i failed twice, now i'm back studying, give you self a break at least a week or 2, then right down what are those habbits that you're doing bad, and create a plan, time to study, which to study, and approaches, and also visit the random fact throwing on this website

remember no matter what, you will become a nurse!

I have also failed it 3 times and it is a very frustrating and heartbreaking thing!! After I got my results after the 3rd time I took a little time just to relax and let my brain and body recover. After that I got the Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX-RN review book (4th edition) and have been going over that and relearning everything. It has helped me find my strengths and weaknesses. And I am also doing practice questions to help me with that. I hope that this helps! Just hang in there and know that you can do it! Have faith because you will be a nurse!! If there is anything that I can do to help or you need someone to just talk to please let me know:D

I just took it for the 3rd time today, and it's a guarantee fail with the basic level knowledge questions I received through the whole 80 questions. I took a great review (Hurst) which hit all the major topics and covered the knowledge base ground, improved on my test scores (70's), and still couldn't answer a basic question to save my life. So best of luck man, improving doesn't always guarantee a good outcome. Here's to another broke month and a half.

Thank you learae, thank you guys, maybe ill take a week break then start reviewing again,im planning to take the kaplan class(review).then retake the exam in 2 or 3 months, since im here in CA i believe it takes 45 day to re register for the repeat exam.(need to review pharmacology having a hard time with it)any suggestions?how to make it easy to remember the drugs and what book did you use for reviewing pharmacology?

good luck i am in ca. i got my result and i failed:bluecry1:. i had my nclex-rn on march 9th 2009 .i need to study hard i wish you all the best .i really do not have idea about the good book to study i wish i do. i am an international nurse i have been in the usa 3 years .i had kaplan review maybe i will have it again. i wish you good luck.

i am international nurse too ... and i am currently studying for my 2nd nclex rn ... hoping i will pass this time ... the first time i took the nclex was august2006, got really depressed, and did not have courage to take it again ... now, i am determined to take it again but i feel like i have forgotten everything i learned ... good thing i came across this website, and i saw suzzane's first tip ... it's really good and very doable, just try to get a copy of the latest saunders (4th ed) ... i was very hesitant to buy one at first because i already have the 3rd edition and kinda don't want to spend because of tough economy, my budget is really low right now, good thing i saw an ad on craigslist and i went and got it very cheap and looks brand new ... it's a very good book ... and it comes with a cd that you can practice on ... goodluck to all of us!!!

Hello there,

Don't give up...like everyone else had said take a break & let your brain rest for a couple of weeks or so. I myself had failed 3x..last one taken 12/08...started studying back again after the holidays using Saunders

Q&A Review 4th edition (this book has only Q's & rationales) + the main Saunders 4th ed book. All I did from January until 1-week before my exam was just doing ~50-100 Q's/day. Also printed out Lab values, made my own Medication lists (those that normally popped out in the q's) & made stack of index cards for my own notes. Don't even bother reading each chapters on the book, just go back to the ones that you think you need to really go over & review to understand the content. But most of all, don't forget to pray & ask God to help you to stay focused & give you the strength to face this challenge. Failing for the 3rd or more times doesn't mean that you're a failure..you've gone through nursing school to become an RN...so my friend, don't give up now...take that as a good lesson for which that is what's going t make us even stronger & more determined to go up there and pass the boards!!! I took my boards for the 4th time On March 23 & found out that I finally PASSED on March 25. I know how you're feeling right now, 'coz I've been there myself...but just have faith & you'll get there. & keep in touch. GOODLUCK :saint:

thank you guys i really appreciate the time youve given me,answering my questions ,for the comfort and everything. makes me feel less ashame of myself for not passing the nclex numerous times.its funny how this exam just get to you in many ways when you dont pass.makes you depress, ashame, breaks your self confidence, make you withdrawn to your family and friends an so on...crazy huh.Anyways as i always say not everyday is a rainy day.HOPE OUR RAINY DAY WILL END SOON.goodluck to all of us.WE WILL BE NURSES.

Sorry to hear that you failed. Don't give up. Start a study plan and approach your study as if you had never tested before. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales. As long as you keep trying, you will pass. Good luck.
