i am an LPN pursuing RN .I failed med surg1 by 1 point. This just shook my confidence totally. I am depressed more than ever and ashamed of myself. I have changed my answers on final exam by doing second guessing. I m thinking whether should i repeat or move to a new school and start over. In my school, you are allowed to repeat only once. This is my first med surg class and i have 3 more classes to be done with school. I m so scared of further failures as this has put me down . Should i start at a new school or repeat this class over. The thing taht scares ime is if I ever fail again a class in future . i could be dismissed from program and all that hard money goes down the drain. i never failed a class in lpn school and i was an average student barely passing every nursing class though. Experienced nurses or student can you give some thoughts .

Don't be too hard on yourself! Nursing school is a very tough program and will bring out the best and worst of all of us. I am constantly finding myself panic over the possibility that I may not make it to the next semester. I had to repeat Fundamentals of Nursing, and personally that was a blessing in disguise. All of the murky stuff became clear, and it allowed me to really understand the concepts.
I don't know how your program is structured, but if you have to sit out of the program until the MED/SURGE class starts, I HIGHLY encourage you to keep studying! Read your books, read your lecture notes/powerpoints, go on youtube and find videos that will help break down the information for you, do whatever you need to do in order to get stronger. Try not to focus on the "what if's" but rather on the now.

little bear 23. wow. I had a similar expereince in BSN school . I failed fundamentals of nursing but repeated it ,and passed the fundamentals then again I failed the clinical part. In nursing school, I have hit the rock bottom . I went on to become an LPN. Nursing school is terrible but I love the job. I cant deal with nursing school but i love the job. As of now, I know my material but the problem is i kept on changing my right answers to wrong answers ,and i tend to second guess myself too much.this failure has affected me so much. Thank you I m praying to god to give me the strength to guide me through this difficult times. I will do what ever it takes to get through this class and in future.

Snowy bee, did you pass your lpn class? Was it was easier than the RN program ?
Yes i did. RN is morein detail and indepth.Alot than lpn school. It covers the same topics.I wouldnt say it is easier but being lpn helped me as the topics covered are not new .

I would suggest staying where you are at and retaking the class. You already know the lay out and the work.
Also....please capitalize your "I"s when you write....speaking for myself and probably some others, it is a lot easier to read something when it is written correctly. I can actually concentrate on your question rather than wanting to critique your post.
Keep your dreams!
To happy wife 77. Okk next time I will capitalize it .Sorry for the trouble.Ok thank you .

I would stay at that school and repeat, figure out what you missed, have a long chat with your instructor as to how you can improve and go from there. Spend day and night on nothing but med-surg live it, work it like a job and study your tail off. Get Med-Surg Success book which has lots of Q&A's, do tonnes of questions. You are lucky some schools do not allow repeats. Make the best of your second chance. It will be a bit of a set back and failure can be scary, but getting up after failure is what leads to success.

I also would encourage you to stay and repeat the course. It will be so much easier than starting all over again somewhere else. The next go around you will be already familiar with the material and likely know what tests you need to study harder for.

It maybe embarrassing to fail a class, but it maybe best just to try it again. Besides, many teachers reuse questions year to year and that may give you a leg up next time. Not to mention you have already reviewed this material.
