Failed my first semester.......

Published

I am a nursing student who failed my first semester of the lpn program. I needed 4 points to pass. This really hurt me to my heart.I had good grades on all the class work but the tests were really hard for me. I knew the material but when it came time for the tests I went blank.Everyone tells me I will get it. The next time, or they say maybe it wasn't for me at the timem They say I will do it next time. I know they are trying to make me feel netter but its not. I really feel like a failure. I had passed all my check offs now i have to do all that over it really sucks. How do I get over this feeling, because I really want to be a nurse. I am a cna and I love helping people. Any ideas to help with the test issues. - welcome any and all suggestions.

Well I know how you feel... I failed Pharm in the BSN program, but at least I get to just take Pharm again in the summer and start my 2nd semester in the fall. I can't imagion taking everything over again. I failed 3 points shy of passing, I feel horrible about it. Good luck to you

Maybe try forming study groups next time? I've failed many quizzes and tests before..even midterms..But luckily for me, i've managed to make it to the last semester of my LPN program. The tests are hard for a reason...you're dealing with people's lives. The only thing I can tell you is to put more effort in studying. If you really want it, you'll make it. Don't put yourself down...learn from your mistakes and move on.

Btw, i'm not saying this to make you feel bad or anything but..if you're having difficulty passing the FIRST semester... then think about how hard it will be for you to pass the second or even third semester. It gets harder and harder..

Good luck!

Thanks for the input. Its not that I don't know the material I literally freeze up when it comes test time. My instructor told me I may have test anxiety any ideas on how to deal with that issue. I only faild that one class but at my school if you fail one class you have to sit out the next semester. I believe that I will do better this time around because I have all of my notes and things like that so while everyone else is looking for answers to things we have to turn in all I have to do is study it. I have also been studying while I am out for this term. Next year will be better I have faith in Christ who strengthens me.I can do all thing w( me!!Through him I can do all things Through him I

I was trying to say I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. He is my strength and my rock. My keys are acting crazy!!!!!

There are a few ladies in my class that are repeating it because of one subject. They just lift their chin up and tackle it again. They are both doing good this semester.

Does your college offer counseling? It's free at my school. You should check into it and see if they can help you overcome your test anxiety before you start your next semester.

Thanks for the advicem We do have counselers. I will try that.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and know that God has a plan for you. Next time around pray for peace and confidence...stand on God's word that He will help you through all the tests and material...I have had to ask the Lord for help countless times to get me through a test. Stay strong and I will keep you in my prayers.

Sorry if I sounded alittle "preachy", but I stand on my faith in God and know with Him all things are possible!!!

I think you have a great attitude about it. I think google "test anxiety" and see if you can find any tips, because it definitely sounds like that might be your problem. I'd take advantage of whatever study tools the school has to offer also.
