Exhausted

Published

I'm fixing to finish my 4 week biology class and I'm exhausted!! My school splits up classes into two sessions during summer. I planned to take a speech class but not sure if I should proceed or take a break. I'm really close to finishing my prereqs for a BSN program starting this coming January. Right now my GPA is very solid at a 3.8. What do y'all think... Should I take a break and leave 5 classes for fall or push through and have 4 in fall.

If I were to take a break, my fall would consist of:

Principles of Chemistry I

Statistics

Early Am. Literature

World History

and then of course, speech.

Speech is easy, knock it out! Easy A. Good luck!

Knock it out and just have 4 classes. I am taking 13 hrs this summer so I can apply to BSN program a year early. It's been so grueling but will be so worth it.

I'm pretty much done with bio! I took my final for bio lab today & have the final for lecture tomorrow. Pretty sure I'm coming out with A's in both. It was so easy but yet so exhausting! I'm glad it's over with! I would personally take a break. I'm so burnt out. I want to start school in the fall with a fresh start. I don't want to take my exhaustion to the new semester (need to save energy for A&P lol), so I decided not to take classes for term B.

I'd suggest taking a break. We all get burnt out toward the end of the semester (why doesn't the energy ever last a few more weeks?), but what's even worse is burning out 6 weeks into the semester because you never had a break. You have a busy schedule waiting for you in the fall!

I agree with Steph just take a break and come back rested for the fall...Speech will still be there and you can come back in the fall and take the remaining classes...good luck...

I say push through. Make yourself able to keep that awesome GPA. :)

Good day, charmedis:

How are you handling 13 credit hours?

I just started human biology (4 credits) for a summer I track (8 weeks), and will be picking up potentially 7 more credits for the summer II track; I've been thinking about bumping summer II down to 4 credits as human biology (so far) is intense.

The school I'm going to has a point system for moving from pre-nursing to nursing, so one's GPA is critical.

Do you have any tips for being able to handle 13 hours in the summer where you are covering the same / similar material in only 6 to 8 weeks time (when it is normally 16 weeks)?

Thank you.

First off....are you from the South or the Midwest because only those two groups are ever "fixing" to do something. hahaha (I'm an Okie, I know). My sis-n-law called me on another one recently when I asked the kids to "get done"......"would you get done already?!?!" I didn't realize how okie it sounded until she called me on it. While I personally think a little twang and southern speak is endearing, it makes one look uneducated so you might rethink how you word things when you put them in print. Just a thought.

As far as being burnt out....I SO understand!! After 3 years, I finished my very last pre-req in May and 3 weeks later, I started a weekend CNA course. I work full time Mon-Fri and have school all day Sat and Sun. I'm always excited for a semester to start but I always lose steam in the last month or so. I wish all semesters were around 12 weeks long instead of 16. As far as whether or not to take a break, only you know the answer to that. Normally, I LOVE the summer break and would advocate for the time off.

I didn't care for Speech, having to write different essays and presenting them to the class. Then again, I am a math-oriented individual and loved Stats and Chemistry. I struggled more with History and Literature so if given this same schedule, I'd opt to take Speech during the summer to get it over with. I would much rather be done with it in 6 weeks rather than endure it for 16. If you're more of a literary person and are dreading Math, it doesn't matter if you take Speech now or later. Don't underestimate the power of a break, tho.

Whatever you decide, it'll be the best, I'm sure. Best of luck to you.
