Excuses for Missing Work

Here's another..."I can't come in my car is stuck in the snow"....another coworker lives nearby this person and drives by there daily...no one had been to the car at all....snow still fresh and no footprints.....

how about..."I have opticalrectumitis....a shi**y outlook on life"

Our hospital has a "chronically ill" list! If you are on the list you have to go through the managers! LOL

We have one girl on this list call last night and ask us to have the OR send her some scrubs for in the morning! I guess she was "tired" and didn't have any clean! She called at like 9:00!

LOL, guess what we didn't do!

I had to call in once (late, not sick) because my car wouldn't turn off. I was in the parking garage, and the ignition locked up. So there I sat, waiting for the tow truck. Our parking garage is located right next to hospital, and there are a couple of rooms that look right into it (Nice view, huh?) I had to make my manager come over to the windows and look to believe it.

Most people call in cause their cars won't start... not me

My front door has been opening or locking itself. I need to stay home to have it exorcised.

My favorite (and one that made me angry) "I have a toe cramp!!!!"

I once called in for a personal day ( had not used one in a year) because our dog had died. I was upset and I knew we were set on the floor. (I found someone to work for me)

Here's how the message got mangled and back to my nurse manager. "Cheryl isn't coming in because she had her dog mercy flighted to pittsburg for surgery and it died." The real story was I DROVE my dog to PITTSFORD (suburb about 20 miles from house). Pittsburg is about 5 hours away.

The worst part was that people actually believed that i had Mercy Flight bring a dog into another state for surgery. Go figure :)

My favorite: "I am not coming in today"

I have NEVER made an excuse not to work

my cat has however had 11 episodes of explosive diarrhea in her short lifespan

painters and repairmen have come into my apartment a record 8 times in two years

and once our upstairs neighbours let the toilet overflow and the water went into our walls and caused a harmless yet messy electrical fire

(woops that actually DID happen - what a pain in the A$$)

actually I havent used my cat or repairmen as an excuse, but good to know I have something to fall back on if my tried and true excuses stop working :)

This one is a guilt trip in the making! LOL

Had a co-worker call off to me one time, her excuse was I'm just too tired to work today, I'll be back tomorrow.....must be nice!!!

I had a prn nurse call in because her luggage got stolen and she didn't have any make-up or a blow dryer to get ready.
