Excelsior stuff!

Ok, passed Developmental Psychology today. WOO HOO, that's two down. Just wondering if anyone else thought this as well......It seems like every test I sit for there are a large number of questions that I've NEVER seen or heard of before. Anyone else have this trouble too? Is there a better resource out there that I'm missing or is it just part of the deal? Thanks in advance!

That's why I like the EC practice tests. (I don't know if there is one for that test off the top of my head.) The practice tests often have some of the same (or very similar) questions on it. When you hit especially NC3 or its equivalent, take the practice test. In my opinion, the practice test helped the most for that one...oh yeah, and for microbiology. Congrats on passing, though! :yeah:

Congrats! :yeah: I just took pathophysiology yesterday and I know what you mean. I saw a few questions I had NO IDEA what the answer was. There was NO PRACTICE EXAM for patho either so I walked in cold. Looking forward to the rest because of the practice exams.

Anyone know how the exams are calculated? Can't figure it out from the breakdown!

The best I can tell is that you need a certain percentage across the board to make a grade. I've received A's that I wondered where they came from because none of the areas in the breakdown were 90% or above. Otherwise I have no clue.

Same here, Apples. And I'll echo her - pay for the practice exams.

And well done!

Thanks a bunch everyone. I'm doing it through DLS Indiana and they obviously have tests for me to practice but I think that I will invest in the EC practice exams as an extra practice. The DLS material has been great, though. I've still learned more with their stuff as opposed to just going it alone. Thanks for all the info.

If Ohio accepts EC you're fine.

How do I find out? Do I call the board?

Yup, just call the Ohio state board of nursing

http://www.nursing.ohio.gov/

and they'll be able to tell you whether or not they will accept EC or not. I think EC is definately the way to go. I'm going through Distance Learning Systems Indiana, they're a publishing company and provide you with the stuff to learn. For me, that was the way I wanted to go. I like the structured classes I take from them. I haven't actually applied to EC yet. I don't have to until the Nursing 3 class. If you do apply and enroll now I believe if you go past one year you'll have to pay the yearly fee. If that's wrong I'm sure someone here will be able to correct that. Definately call the board and make sure before you sign up for anything. Good Luck to ya! jpo:cool:
