i am about to meet with a cn advisor (i AM aware that they are a publishing company), but i had a few questions for people who have actually gone through the program. i have looked at a bunch of threads about this, but haven't found any real answers.
1. what is the FASTEST anyone has bridged through excelsior?
2. can you take the cpne in another state if it means shortening the waiting time?
3. where can i find a list of states that DO NOT except excelsior grads?
4. after becoming and rn, can you transfer your credits to a state university for your bsn and THEN will you be recognized by these states?
background: i have recently been licensed as an lpn in the state of georgia. to do what i really want to do, i will need to be an rn. i would like to accomplish this as quickly as possible.
thank you!!

About 6 months, I believe.
Yes.
There isn't one. Tell us your state - and in Distance Learning, where there are more participants about Excelsior.
Don't know.

As of October 2003, California does not recognize or accept RNs who are Excelsior graduates.

Does this mean you simply cannot practice in the state of CA or say, can you do the bridge program outside of CA and then take CA's exam to practice (this is required if your education program does not match up exactly with CA's RN education requirements)? Hope this makes sense.
You cannot endorse an out-of-state RN license into CA if you completed your RN bridge program through Excelsior. The California BRN is simply leery about the lack of clinical hours offered through the Excelsior program.

there are several states that have different requirments such as additional clinical hours or you have to be a lvn/pn prior to graduating ec. i know california will not accept ec at all.. you can graduate in another state and be licensed in ca but you have to meet the deadline that ca has set. if you graduated next week took your nclex in texas you could not practice in ca unless things have changed. regardless if you have a bsn or msn. you need to talk to the ga bon, i think i read somewhere that their applicants have to test in another state then transfer to ga..not 100% sure on that ....

Hi guys. Im new here and I know that this might sound redundant but I would really like to get more information with regards to Excelsior College.
Im currently working as an LPN as would like to continue on to get my Associates Degree. I know that like you, its really hard to look for a nursing school that would accomodate the working class..
I am trying to get alot of information before paying the enrollment fee of $800.
I live here in NY and I know that EC is accredited here.
I am just wondering if you guys have any news about EC's plan in CA.
I heard that the college is not "recognize" as a nursing school or you may not be able to practice as a RN there..
Also... is excelsior really worth it??
I hope to get some response from you guys/girls...
Thanks alot..

California DOES NOT accept Excelsior grads as RNs.
I am now in Excelsior. I'm halfway through. If you want to be an RN yes, it's worth it.
