Hi all, I'm finishing my BA through Excelsior, and was looking at getting a BSN through them as well, but I can't find if the Navy accepts them as a valid source school for the Nurse Corps. Anyone know?
Thanks!

This might help.

I suppose my question really is, does the Nurse Corps have any additional requirements for the accreditation of the degree, vice standard regional and NLNAC accreditation. Like how JAG requires your degree to come from an ABA recognized school.
I don't know what that is.
Excelsior IS accredited by the Naltional League for Nursing, and won their Center of Excellence award.

Torn, I believe they do accept EC BSNs, but you may want to contact your local Navy Nurse Corps recruiter, just to make sure.

The other thing to think about: The EC BSN program is now open only to RN's.
The AS/AAS programs in nursing are where you'd start if you're not an RN, but those programs require certification/licensure as a paramedic, respiratory therapist, LPN/LVN, or service as a similar provider with patient care experience; or prior completion of >50% of the clinical coursework in another RN program.

I was told by my Navy Healthcare Professions Recruiter that a BSN degree must have at least 60% of the program in a traditional classroom setting.
You posted in another thread that he told you it was 40%. Care to clarify?
No more than 40% online, and therefore at least 60% in a traditional classroom setting.
LOL...that's what I get for reading through the posts too fast. Sorry about that- I was doing that all morning. :chuckle
