Excelsior CPCE

I have a concern with the EC CPCE exam. I'm an RT that has been working in the Informatics for the past 10 years. As a result, I've been out of patient care for that period of time. I've been reading the threads where much of what is said is "the CPCE is simply doing what we do daily anyway" but I'm not working in the patient care area. Has anyone had this experience? Should I consider returning to patient care part-time in order to get the experience I need or can the CPCE be passed using the CDs and the EC workshop?

It's called the CPNE. I have not taken it but I am a bedside nurse I am not sure if that gives me an advantage. I've heard of a lot of nurses who've failed. I'm planning to take two workshops just so I know what THEY want.

I'm sure you'll get some good insight here, many non nurses have passed the exam. Good luck!

hello crusaders fan, i just passed the cpne a couple of days ago, and alot of people say that if you dont have any hospital experience you have a tendency to do better. i have worked in the hospital x13 and i had to practice continusly how to do it their way and not my ususal way. You do exactly how it is laid out in the study guide and you will be awesomeand most important you will pass:up::up::up:

Thank you, Its So Hot in Phoenix and BetterME29! It's good to know I don't have to work another job P/T! :) I have yet to enroll in EC and met with TCN but after reading posts here will probably do EC on my own. I'm keeping tabs on the EC program through this site and it's been a BIG help! All of you have great insight!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR THE OLLEGE NETWORK!

They asd thousands to the cost of the program and you do not need them, and should you decide for some reason not to continue you will STILL owe them the entire amount of the contract. People have tried to get out of the contracts and can't.

Please don't get hooked up with TCN. I made that mistake before I ever started interacting with all of these knowledgeable people in this forum. You do not need them. I honestly halfway look at them because I paid so much for them, but I am more of a textbook gal. Welcome to All Nurses!:p
