Epic eMAR conversions

Has anyone done an EPIC computer conversion assignment? My recruiter is talking about a couple in San Francisco and Oakland. The money seems good but what exactly does it entail?

they are usually looking for nurses who have epic experience while their nurses get through training, and then sometimes for awhile after they go live. Otherwise it is the same as any other travel assignment and can be fun because you usually team up with quite a few other travelers. I tend to like them.

What if you haven't worked with epic but you are very computer literate? Would they consider taking a travel nurse like that you think? I'm a very good people person and I think it would be a nice change of pace. Also, do you know if you have to have med-surg or ICU experience? Or do they take all kinds of backgrounds? I think it would be great to work with other travelers and sort of accomplish something different other then filling in staffing holes and working long days! I have a friend that has been doing these for years and she loves it and gets to go everywhere!

Computer conversions can be long hours as well. You are either there to take care of patients, to provide EMR support, or both. Most hospitals reduce their ratios during the go live weeks and that's why they bring in so many travelers.

Conversions are similar to any other travel assignment except there are usually a lot of travelers there. Many of the conversions are 48h a week contracts.

What travel company are you with that has EPIC assignments? I have done one EPIC conversion and would like to do more but the companies i am with dont seem to have any coming up.

i am with 6 agencies! and they always check with me when they get contracts for conversion projects. i would make sure i was with several agencies, you can always ask them about EMAR conversions and that you are interested. Also keep your eye open for mass emails from companies loo,ing to hire travel nurses.

Hello im curious which company are you with that has the san Francisco and Oakland epic conversion ?

On Assignment, now called OAnursetravel.com has a conversion in San Fran coming up. They have recently joined with Medical Solutions.

What is the average pay rate for an Epic conversion assignment and is it a different rate for ICU vs Med/surg?

What 6 agencies do you work with regarding the conversions? I have only found two?

I had a contract at a small ER for an EMR conversion and got cancelled a week before it for "low census". Not that psyched on small facilities needing one traveler for these situations. Too easy for them to back out.

Still got travel pay, housing pay, and two weeks salary for never doing any work. But beware of small facilities in these scenarios.
