EC restricted states

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

For those of you who resides in states that do not license EC grads right away, how did you go about it?. I have an Active RN license in a different state but my state of residency requires hours of RN experience before they can endorse my license. I have been looking at VAs and military medical centers and clinics with no luck. How did you all go about it? Any advise will be appreciated. Thank you.

Anybody know of any agency or any other jobs that would hire with an out of state RN license other than VA?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Only compact states if you are a legal resident of a compact state. Otherwise no.

You can be hired into any federal facility with an active license from any state, I believe this also includes licensed in any US territory as well.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Look at usajobs.gov. Any federal facility will work.

I think the issue is getting licensed in state of residence due to additional clinical preceptorship requirements

Have been trying with no luck since they are looking for one year experience.

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTACH, LTC, Home Health.

I just posted a reply to your post under 'EC Grads: Where are they now'. If it's hospital experience that you seek, don't knock the VA....they have it all: ER, med/surg, LTC, ICU, etc.....or so I'm told. I've never worked in the VA before.
