Does this bother you.. or is it just me?

From the first day of class for A&P my classmate who sits next to me, kept leaning over to look at my notes I was taking during class. I really am a helpful person and if she missed something the professor said, she could ask and I would happily repeat it but to lean over and look in my notebook is very rude, disrespectful and irritating in my opinion. I may be writing something personal and not related to the classwork... not to mention she doesn't even say hello or speak to me at all.

Anyway... I though I would give little hints like covering my notes as I was writing but noooo she kept doing it, so after 3 weeks of class I had to tell her. Monday we both arrived to class early and I told her to please stop looking in my notes because its irritating however, I will be glad to answer any questions she may have if I know the answer. She immediately apologized. I really felt bad because I can tell she was embarrased, but I was going to blow it I didn't say something. Arggg

Was I wrong.

My other pet peeve is, I hate when people ask to compare their answers with mine, lets say if we have a practice exercise. If it's a group project or study group that's different but if we had a take home practice exercise I don't want to compare because it confuses me, especially if I am not sure about a question. I rather ask the professor or take my chances on my answers.

I know this sounds selfish... I really am not a selfish person and love to help other people but people will take advantage if you let them.

Is it just me?

I hate to break it to you....but you are in the minority.

I have never sat beside of someone in a class (nursing or not) that required tons of note-taking where people wouldn't occasionally lean over to see what I wrote. I always helped them take a quick look but would pull back my paper if I had to keep writing.

I did this even if I didn't even know the person's name....I've helped people and they have helped me.

Yes, you can get through nursing school by yourself without any outside support or help....but it sure makes it 20x more difficult...and when you start working as a nurse...you won't have a concept of teamwork.

It's not worth getting bent out of shape over.

I hate to break it to you... but based on the responses to my post, you are in the minority. Apparently you are the one who got bent out of shape regarding my comments, otherwise you would not have made such a harsh response to begin with.

Listen, I am a well respected, successful business women and I would not have made it without my excellent leadership skills and teamwork abilities. I support 2 Vice Presidents and over 30 managers througout the East Coast of Florida.

I appreciate your different point of view, however I don't appreciate your comments that come across as a personal attack. If you have any other comments, please feel free to shoot me a PM, or let it go.

Let's agree to disagree. There's no need to attack "minorities". So what if you're in a minority? How does that matter even one little bit? It's about the individual.

The way you learn obviously depends on your own learning style. For example, study groups work very well for some people, but others need to sit alone in a quiet room to focus. It simply depends on the individual and although that would making nursing school "20x harder" for some, for others it makes it 20x easier.

I think everyone needs to learn to accept differences between individuals. Understand that not everyone is like you. And that goes for all of us! :)

Absolutely,

I happend to be one who cannot take any noise while I am studying, it distracts me. I do most of my homework and studying on the weekend, so I do not watch TV or listen to any music Saturday or Sunday. Even my dog knows not to bark... just kidding. :chuckle

I know my OP was trivial, I just wanted to see if anyone felt like I did. All comments are welcome, because it does give you a different perspective. However, I still stand by my position.
