Do You Need Help Preparing For The Teas?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just finished taking the TEAS examination and I got a 90! Whoop Whoop! I also got my nursing school acceptance letter!

After all of this I've decided to sell my study guide I used for the TEAS. It's not the ATI study guide, but it's more like tips and tricks for the TEAS. It really helped me out and I figured someone might want it. If your interested just e-mail me on here.

Sincerely,

Kimberly

P.S.-If you have any questions about the TEAS (in general) I can probably help you out.

I am schedule to take the test on 11/15, I just ordered the guide online, hopefully I will get it before the test. You mention that the test was not too difficult, can you give me a couple of math examples. how was the reading section?

Thanks

Never a good idea to post email addy... you might want to edit it out

Cheers

For the math section make sure you know your measurements!

For example,The metric system is based on powers of ten. There are three basic units in the metric

system: the meter (length), the liter (volume), and the gram (mass/weight). Prefixes are

added to these unit names to indicate the power of ten which must be applied to the

unit. The most common metric prefixes are, in descending order: kilo- (1000); hector-

(100); deka- (10); deci- (0.1); centi- (0.01); and milli- (0.001). So, for example, one

kilometer is equal to a thousand meters, and one milliliter is equal to 0.001 liters.

The topics covered in the mathematics section are numbers,

operations, percents, ratios, proportions, algebra, measurements, graphs, and

diagrams.

Ex.

Ticket sales for this year's annual concert at Minutemaid Park were

$125,000. The promoter is predicting that next year's sales, in dollars, will be 40%

greater than this year's. How many dollars in ticket sales is the promoter predicting for

next year?

hope this helps...if you need the extra study guide tip and tricks fro the teas let me know

I have a question for the TEAS exam.

Do they expect you to know the conversion rates, or do they just expect you to know how to perform a conversion. i.e 1miles=5,280 yards? or 1Lb=16oz

Thanks for the info on the TEAS test, I have been stressing over this for weeks. Good luck to all else taking.

For the TEAS test, you can pass, But I encourage to buy the TEAS study guide so you can have a good chance of getting a good score. I also am a student there. I also know a website where you can take practice test. If your interested please PM me.

Please share the site! There are two accelerate programs that I want to apply to--one requires the TEAS, one doesn't. Unfortunately, the program I would rather attend requires it. Alas, I've always sucked at math, and need all the help I can get.

Thanks for the help!

thanks for the help!

ati testing - nclex rn review nclex pn review nclex review nursing ce

there is the official website, you can order their study guide and take tests online. personally i don't think the math was hard at all, it was very basics and a little algebra. science was the hardest in my opinion, because it was science not required for nursing. get the book though it will help!

oh okay. what kind of science was it that you felt was particularly difficult?

i had thought there was a site with practice tests based on the post i quoted ("i also know a website where you can take practice test. if your interested please pm me").

thanks again.

There was a lot of physics, general science, earth science and genetics. There was only 1 AP question in my test.

Also I wanted to point out the math was easy math however the questions are very long and detailed, your best bet for studying that section, is to know how to do all the problems very quickly! many people do not finish the math section because of time only. A lot of Averaging type problems where you have to add up large groups of figures, or do multiple step problems, all without a calculator so you need to be able to get through them fast in order to save time.

There are practice TEAS questions on the internet just do a google search, I didn't find them as helpful as the book at all. In my opinion if you get the study guide and study it front to back you will do well.
