Hello,

My name is María, I am from Spain and I would like some advices about my personal case.

My husband is a postdoc researcher in a Physic department and, like many researchers, when he finishes his postdoc in a university, he has to move to another.

In this point, I am a Nurse in Spain. I like to think that I am a good one, and I am very interested in work as a Register Nurse in USA. I would like to apply in Florida because I have already the TOEFL score required, but the problem is whithin in case my husband has a job position in a other state, could I move my license to another state?

I have seen that the requisites in Florida are little bit different from another states.

Thank you so much for your time.

María

Each state has their own requirements so all you can do and best thing to do is apply to the state you plan on living and working in. Plus make sure that whatever visa your husband gets allows you to work in the US as not all visas will

Hello,

My name is María and I want to apply for a RN license in Florida.

In the process requirements, I read that before having the license It is necesary to have a SSN, but since I am international applicant I can´t have it until I have a job (I have understood) and for having a job, I need the license.

Please, do you know something about?

Thank you for your help.

Maria

I would get this clarified by the BoN, or, if necessary, a reputable immigration attorney.

Technically all states are to require a valid SSN before issuing a professional license per federal regulations. Not all states enforce the rule. I think FL may process/evaluate your application and authorize you to take the NCLEX but will not issue your license until you provide a valid-for- work SSN. Other states like CA, VT, AZ & MD will not accept your application (with no refund of fees submitted) without a valid SSN as validated through everify.

The best source is FL BoN.

If they will not process your application you can try a state that will process your application without a SSN but you won't be able to endorse your license back to FL until you meet the requirements. This method will be very costly as you are paying double fees one to a state that you have no intention to live or work. a
