Do I need to take A&P I and II at the same school?

Published

I am deciding on two community colleges for A&P classes. Can I take A&P I at one and A&P II at the other school? I am just afraid the other school might not let me take II there becuase they might think the scope is different.

I looked at the syllabus, they are pretty similar but one does not include special senses in A&PI.

At my second school it was all or nothing.

I was already in the A&P I at my local CC, but now that I'm switching schools - I'll have to retake it at the second school.

I look at it as good preparation for the second school!!! :roll

Also it's (for me) a difference from quarters to semesters. Maybe that's why they won't accept it???

I would ask both schools to see if they would let you transfer the classes, since it's up to them.

Our CCs are all conforming to the same cirriculum, so it would be feasible here. I'd check with the schools to see if it is the same where you are.

I would call an advisor at the school you plan on transfering to and find out. I'm going to be doing the same as you, A&PI and one school and A&PII and another school. The state I live in regulates basic courses like A&P so that they are transferable to any school with in the state.

Thanks for all the information. I will make a call and try to find out.

The school I'm attending now did not have a problem with my taking A&P1 elsewhere. The only thing they wanted to be sure of was that it was a 4 credit course w/lab. They did tell me though that after I start school with them next month, I am not allowed to take any courses elsewhere and transfer them in. I don't know if it's just because it's a private college, but that is there policy. I took A&P1 this summer, and since I was not technically a student there yet, they said it was okay. Plus I had to obtain a "B" or better for it to transfer. I think the grade is important no matter where you transfer the credits to, if allowed. Most nursing programs don't want less than that in any science.

i go to a private university also and they told me i couldn't transfer any courses in either after i started the program. i found out that was a lie. they're just greedy for money, but ultimately they want you to graduate on time also. in order to take classes at another school i have to submit a request to take a class at another institution. so far they've all been approved. it's a lot cheaper this way. something you might want to look into if needed.

Contact the registrar at the school where you're wanting to transfer the course to and they'll be able to answer any questions you might have.

I do not think you can. you must have completed one before you can take two. But you can take the second and micro together. That is not a good idea either. Well at least that is the advice that has been given to me. I have yet to take it.

At our school you can take another course at another school and get credit for it if it has been completed with in five years. However if it is a science, your grade has to be a B or higher to transfer. Our nursing program fails anyone lower than an 80 average, so you might want to check on that too. Good luck in school.
