I am in orientation for a home based telephonic program for a growing company. I am very excited about it. I wondered if there were other disease management nurses here?

Very slow forum but I thought I would try.

I am surprised no one responded to disease management nurses but I can say I love my new job. I love telecommutting!

I have done disease management but it has been a few years, now I want to return to work, from home if possible. It seems that the companies around here save that 'perk' for their long term employees, understanably I suppose. I keep looking, hoping, and watching for any work from home opportunities.

Which company do you work for, if you don't mind my asking. I am from TN, near Knoxville, and there are some case management companies here, I'm taking some continuing education to make myself more hireable since I've been on a hiatus for a bit. I'm glad you like your job, :roll I loved disease management, I worked in a hospital for 13+ years beforehand, it is a nice change, and it makes you feel like you've really contributed to your clients wellbeing.

Keep on keeping on...

which company? I know that unitedhealthgroup is hiring disease case managers in several areas. I have a contact there that is recruiting for those positions across the nation in almost every state.

That is who I am working for but I understand at this point in time they are not hiring any more telecomuters.

I am in orientation for a home based disease management position. We are almost finished with our first week and will have one more week in the call center. Then we'll be deployed as remote nurses. It's been a tough training session but things are starting to come together. We will have a preceptor for several weeks, which is a great thing! I just found this forum and am excited to be able to talk with others in my profession. Nice to meet all of you.

Yes I hear on you grueling training. Alot to absorb the software in two weeks. I was in the same boat. The end of the second week felt better. It was kinda like an "immersion" method LOL.

Hello:

I am an LPN in the Atlanta area and am currently working as Health Care Coordinator for Sunrise Senior Living. A large part of our jobs is case management which I love. I recently heard that Matria was hiring, but I believe its in their call center. Is there a way to find out about other disease management companies who utilize telecommuters. Posting a list would be great. I am ready to start branching out, and would love the opportunity to work from home. My name is AmiRah....please to meet all of you.

AmiRah nice to meet you as well. Pretty name. I don't know of a disease management list of companies per say. I just lucked out and responded to an ad.

I see the posts from March from a couple of you that are training for or just going in to telenursing in the disease management field. Are you still liking it? I am looking in to this field - currently working as a Coordinator for a step down unit and tired of being on call 24/7. I have a lot of experience in cardiac as well as DM and the one-on-one patient contact sounds interesting... I would love some feedback! Thanks!!

I absolutely love my job in disease management. The caseload can be either swamping or dead depending on if you can reach your clients. Caseload expectation is 100 clients to manage/very doable but steady. I love working from home for the most part but my kids seem to come in alot. I put a sign on the door/working etc and that seems to help.

Thanks for asking if I still liked my job. I worked two other home health jobs too/yes I am nutzo.

I liked working at home, too. I lost my job on Friday. I was hired on 03/28 and lost my job, along with half the nursing staff on 05/21/05. Problems with the disease management program/contract. I am in total shock. I'm not sure what I will do now. My experience over the past 18 years has been in home health, so I imagine I will try to look there. I actually wish I was more of a hospital nurse right now, so I could just go to work at an agency until I figured out what I really wanted to do. I'm glad your job is going well. Working at home is so cool. I enjoyed it very much, but didn't get to do it for long.
