I know we keep hearing the Diploma Programs are a dying breed. I had never even heard of them until I was in my third year into a BSN program. I work with many WATTS sch. of nursing grads. this diploma school is thriving here. I am wondering about how many Diploma programs are still out there and doing well. Please share.

Hi, I am considering an ASN program near my home. There are two here which are ST.Vincent's College and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. Both are affiliated with hospitals and are thriving also.

There are several diploma schools in Pittsburgh, Pa. Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, West Penn Hospital School of Nursing, Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing and St Francis are the four I can think of off hand. As far as I know these are still open, however there used to be many more in this area and it is possible that they could have shut down one or two of the above without me hearing about it. I have worked many, many hours with grads of these fine schools and must say it was an honor and a priviledge.
