Deciding on a program

Published

Hello,

I have been accepted into 2 different nursing programs and I'm having a hard time deciding which one to pick. I've been accepted to the accelerated program at the University of Southern Maine as well as the traditional (2 year) program at the University of Colorado-Denver. The time frame doesn't make a huge difference for me, because I love school. I don't really know how much rankings matter in the grand scheme of things, but Colorado is ranked higher. The programs seem pretty similar in terms of class sizes as well. I was just wondering if there are people here who have been to either program, or if there are people who did an accelerated program who would have preferred to have slowed it down a little, or vice versa. Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Congratulations :)

I did an Accler. BSN and regret it 150%. I graduated in Dec 2010 and have not found a job. I wish I would of worked more to pay my way through school. Instead I worked less and went to school full time. The accler programs go through the material very quickly, pack your schedule with clinicals/labs/classes.

Where do you plan on living after graduation? The market for new grads in Denver is really rough right now...I am not sure about Maine; but the market also will change in a few years. I personally would choose Denver :)

I agree with the poster above... go for the program that will take you longer to complete that way hopefully when you are finished their will be a job for you... just my 2 cents
