I hate this CNO. I'm currently trying to apply for registration in Ontario as an RN registered elsewhere in the country but the College just seem so slow processing the applications or should I say they need to streamline their process. I know they have the most applications to deal with in all provinces but come on that's not an excuse.
Called them 5 days ago because I haven't been charged in my Credit card although I believed the last of the requirements they needed was received 2 weeks ago. I did send everything by Registered mail plus the Cust Rep confirmed it. She said the problem was my papers was "misfiled", assured me that she'll rectify it and she'll charge my credit card. Fine everything's moving forward now.
fast forward this morning. I called again to asked if they can give me an application number or a confirmation number that they are moving forward with my application. Cust Rep told me, "oh it was misfiled but was noted 5 days ago and...". 5 days after and still nothing happened to my files. I JUST WANNA GO BALLISTIC after hearing that. I did hung up. and called them after gathring myself telling the line got cut. i don't know how long would it take them to put it in the correct files never mind the whole processing of my application. Honestly I thought it would only take a month, max.
I'm just frustrated...

Even if there were no mishaps with your application it would never have been completed in a month. When I registered in Alberta from Manitoba in 2002, it took 6 1/2 weeks. I had no confounding factors such as English-as-a-second-language, initial education in a foreign country, bouncing around from province to province, assessment first as an RN, then registration as a PN, writing the CPRNE in Ontario, then writing the CRNE in Nova Scotia and all the paper trails that come with all of that. If I worked in the registrar's office at CNO, all of this would be setting off alarm bells in my head. Even if your file magically appears on someone's desk tomorrow morning all the necessary documentation from other jurisdictions has to be in their hands before they'll do anything more. What's the rush?
I was only required 3 requirements and the last of the 3 was received 2 weeks ago. No rush actually but I do expect the application process to be better than that. Just a bit surprised about the whole thing. at least send a letter to the applicant confirming they received all the requirements. what if didn't followed up on my application and just trusted them that they'll do what they are supposed to do?

Why expect things to be done quickly? most countries take over 2 months and as long as 6 months to go through the process. What would you call a timely manner?
I would not say quick but more of continuous communication with the applicant. i'm basing this from my experience in Nova Scotia which i assume have less applicants to deal with.
also, I did inquire to CNO a couple of times. They said it takes 3-4 weeks after receiving all the requirements.
NS will have less applicants and I went several months without communication and it was only when I emailed them did I find out they had lost my application despite taking payment for it. So things can happen with other provincial colleges

Even if everything is set, it still takes longer than you're expecting. ON has the most applicants. I initially wrote the CRNE and registered in TO, where I'm born and raised. That process took 3 weeks. Then, at the same time I was waiting on AB because I was moving here. CARNA took about 6 to 7 weeks, as Jan said.
No sense getting frustrated. Just be patient and wait. It should all work out.

after sending the assessment package, when will i expect to receive from CNO the verification forms for my employer?:coollook:
i believe it's included in the package that CNO will send you.
no it's not included, only the Verification of Course Completion and Transcript Request Form...that's why i was wondering when it will be sent, because how can they complete the assessment without it? hope they'll send it ASAp. thanks
I wonder why. It should be included. its the B-4 form. I'll probably call them if that's the case knowing CNO... They actually sent me an IEN package the first time whereas I requested the "registered elsewhere" application.
yah...i just emailed them regarding the the forms for the employer...hope everything turns out right...thanks :)
