Day ONE

Published

Oh boy,

I Just got home from THE VERY FIRST DAY of my nursing career. Had first two classes at Galen College here in Cincinnati today. feelin' pretty scared about A&P but will push on.

And Wier rollin !!

Specializes in Acute Care Cardiac, Education, Prof Practice.

A&P is fun if you think about it the right way. Get one of those A&P coloring books! Remember the body is what we are mainly dealing with in nursing, so having a solid knowledge base of that is tantamount to success! Enjoy your classes!!

good stuff, I have never heard of the coloring book, will for sure look into that thanks Tait !!

I'm going to second the coloring books. I used the anatomy one as a study 'break' when I was studying for my athletic training boards to help fill in gaps mostly in muscle Origin/Insertion/Action and ligaments. (Passed on the first try!!!) It was a great way to break up tedious dry studying (say...pain control theories and modality parameters) while still studying.

I didn't know a physiology one existed until browsing the nursing section at B&N one day and I grabbed it to help get me ready for my program in June.

Here's a link to the anatomy one I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0805350861/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1365299282&sr=8-1&pi=SL75

Good luck in your program!!

I am interested in Galen, please keep us updated with your progress (:

A&P, particularly the P, is my favorite part of healthcare. Physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, psychopathology are really great. Running IV pumps, giving feedings, tending to wounds, putting assorted tubes into the body...not so much (for me!), lol. Anyway, you'll do great. Before you know it you'll be looking back thinking, "Wow, that went by fast. It was a ***** doing it, but I'm glad it's done."
