CSULB FALL 2020

So: trimester, Long Beach Memorial and semester is at the VA. Well, something is better than nothing! How do you feel about your first semester online with csulb?

I've been checking my application status all day since the interview 16 days ago, so I'm going a bit mad for information. ?

No problem! If it makes you feel better, we received our letters a month after the interviews. 

I'm also a Spring 2021 applicant and I have a quick question. Does CSULB use a normal grading scale for nursing school or do they do the grading scale where only >92 is an A? I tried to look in the handbook, but it did not say. Also, if anyone can give study tips for exams and note taking tips that would also be great. Thanks for your time and I hope I'm not taking up to much of it

I graduated from trimester program in August. Grading is normal 90, 80, 70 etc. I studied by very briefly reviewing the content before lecture. Listened and took notes during lecture. I used the books to study any topic I wanted extra detail on. I primarily studied for tests using lecture material. In my experience lectures covered all testing material and instructors make every effort to be fair in grading.

Wait, at CSULB a 90 is an A??? Because at CSULA an A is 93+ ** Jealous ** LOL. 90 is an A - , 3.7 for us ??

Question for current/graduated CSULB nursing students: What is the time frame (month wise) that you’re in school for both trimester and semester? For example, semester: Aug. - Dec. & Jan - May? I’m really curious about trimester

Hi Carolina. I’m currently in the trimester cohort (first semester). We graduate May of 2022. So it’s Aug 2020-May 2022 for the Trimester and Aug 2020-Dec 2022 for the semester.

Hi Arty, I hate to bother you with another question, but how is the workload for first semester Nursing students? From what I've looked at it seems the curriculum is the same for first semester wether you're in trimester or semester. I only ask because I'm wondering if a 45 minute commute to CSULB would be to time consuming and if it's possible to do a part time job while in first semester. I have taken Patho and Pharm, so I might try and get those waived. If any other Nursing students wants to comment, that would also be great!

I’m so happy right now but it was an email from the school, not the nursing department. It says, "You are offered admission to the Nursing Basic B.S." I think that still means I got in! I hope that I'll hear from the nursing department to make it official

CONGRATS!! If you don't mind sharing, what were your stats? ?

     Since lectures are still online (Spring is planned to be the same), commuting may be feasible. I know of current students who are doing a similar commute since we only meet in person once or twice a week for clinicals/Sim. Just be aware that you may have some super early mornings and long days (my current schedule has clinical at the hospital from 6:30am-5pm). 

      Whether working and commuting will be feasible is completely up to you and your time management skills.

Sorry to bother but I’m an applicant for Fall 2021 and was wondering if anyone can share their point-based score who hasn’t already in the beginning of this thread! I’m currently applying with a 9.57 and don’t know if this will make the cut. Thanks a lot in advanced ?
