CSULB Fall 2014

Hey everyone!

Did anyone else apply to CSULB for Fall 2014? The school app was due last Saturday, and then we have the month of January to submit for the School of Nursing.

Based on previous threads, it looks like we are invited to an interview about a month after the deadline, and the cutoff was ~9.1 points.

Here are my stats so we can see how we stand this year!

Science GPA: 3.58

GE GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 97.3

TEAS Math: 100

I think that works out to about 9.4 points... the average keeps rising each year, so it would be nice to see where we all fall!

Good luck everyone :)

What have you had to purchase so far, and how much has it cost up till this point?

(E.g. Tuition, Books, Uniforms, Health / Malpractice Insurance, Parking Pass, etc )

And what vaccinations do you need to get, or prove you have? I had my Titers done about 2 years ago, should I get them done again, or is that record good?

Books I had to purchase so far amounted to like $600 (I still need to get a few, prolly going to amount to 800 or $900). Tuition per semester is like $3400. Malpractice insurance isn't that expensive. The costs of the first semester are much higher because of the initial book purchase. From what I remember, the instructors said we use the box of books we bought during orientation again and prolly for the remainder of the nursing school.

Titers have to be done this within the year I believe, but they will give you instructions during your nursing orientation, which is much earlier than the semester starts (I had mine in June).

Oh and if you have Kaiser, they don't have the one hep B numerical titer, I had to do it at my community college.

I hope I answered your questions!

good luck and let me know when you get accepted! I may see you around the nursing department in the spring!

did you apply for financial aid? That's how I'm paying.

How much are the parking pass and uniforms ? It must be expensive

Uniforms are about $130 for 2 sets, I'm not sure about the parking pass, but it's kind of expensive from what I remember.

Yes, and I will get it... But didn't you say that Financial aid does not cover summer semesters? And summers will be about half of my time in school.

The other option is MORE student loans....

:barf02:

So the same books will be used throughout the program? It won't be $1000 every semester?

Well, it won't be $1000 every semester, but you may need to get like 2 books, which cost about $160 each (I'm guesstimating). But you can use what's left over of your aid to pay for summer. That's what I'm doing too.
