CSULB Fall 2015 Applicants-Basic BSN

I am extremely surprised there isn't a thread that exists for students applying to CSU LB for Fall 2015!!

Here are my stats, but enlighten me on one part, what does the general gpa consist of? I actually went to CSULB and met Monalisa, but she said the nursing program only looks at eight classes... Maybe I should call to reassure how they calculate the cummulative GPA, but my other scores are set.

Science GPA: 4.0: 4

TEAS Math: 100 : 2

TEAS Overall: (90.7x2)100:1.814

GE GPA: TBA

So far so good, but being that a 3.0 is the cut off gpa for general and science for the program I am giving myself a 3.0/2= 1.5 as a score and my points would be a 9.314 as a default. Hopefully it will be higher.

I got the email too. June 12 at 8am.

Pretty sure everyone's orientation has the same time/date so they can figure who is going trimester vs semester and also to iron out who is getting in from the alternate list.

Thanks for the update! I wonder when she's going to email the alternates.

For the people that were accepted, are you guys aiming for trimester or just the regular semester schedule?

I personally would like to be in a trimester. I don't have a particular reason other than it finishes faster.

I too have orientation on June 12th at 8am.

For those who have already sent in official transcripts, is your transcript status still "initiated" in the to-do list in myCSULB? I sent mine 3 weeks ago and it hasn't changed. :/

My to-do list use to say official transcript but now it says 'no to do's'. Three weeks is a long time. I would give them a call if you don't see a change this week.

See you all on June 12th. Trimester program here as well. For those transfer students whose transcripts already showed up,did you receive any word from an evaluator regarding your credits? I am assuming most are in-state transfers so everything will probably transfer, I am transferring from out-of-state so I am curious to see if I will get credit for one or two of my classes or will be tacking them on top of the nursing classes.

You have sometime. We just got back in from spring break so things might be hectic between SON and admissions (they dont' seem to communicate very well between the two). Coming back from winter break mine said initiated for 6 weeks... I'd even already received my email from admissions and records that my transfer units have been reviewed and marked as complete. So long as SON has everything they need you are GOOD TO GO! :) When it comes to our program SON > admissions and records unless you receive FinAid.

If there is any question regarding which courses count for transfer or not, they usually ask for that class's syllabus to make sure that the out-of-state course student learning objectives match that of CSULB. If there are any questions, they contact you directly and just ask for the syllabus for further review... that goes for both out-of-state and any course transfer, in general.

For those of you deciding between semester and trimester, be warned that there is no finaid provided by CSULB for summer courses -- which was a main concern for me and why I chose the semester program. Yes, people say that trimester is tough, but that's because you give up the right to have more than a week break between terms. But if you know yourself, and you can afford the time and the money, both personally and through aid, more power to you if you go for trimester. I know that if I could have afforded it without taking out too many loans over the summer I would have done it myself.
