CSULA's ABSN program Summer 2019

Hello there!

I would love to start a thread of those applying for CSULA's ABSN program for summer 2019. I was hoping we could give each other some support and hopefully get to know each other a bit before starting school! I'm a little worried as I hear that the program is super competitive and I don't have many volunteer hours or experience. Is this a deciding factor in the decision process?

@byoung10, that really sucks - I'm sorry. It's never a nice pill to swallow (if there is such a thing). It makes me happy to see everyone on here being incredibly supportive though. I really do hope you get into another program. Something tells me you will, and it'll all work out in the end :).

You guys all seem like you have such extensive volunteering experience. Mine was just professional, so I couldn't really comment on the COPE Health Scholars Program. What I do know is that they are relatively selective for just that - a volunteering program.

To those living with baseline anxiety every day waiting for your results, I'm right there with you. Icky, icky. Sending you guys positive vibes!

T-minus 17 days (given last few years' trajectories).

@E.R Silverlake, good luck on your upcoming interview! You get double the anticipation. I'm rooting for you and hoping we all find out soon after. Gah, this waiting is killing me!!

Wow, sorry to @byoung10 and to lurkers of this forum who got that email =( It is hard to figure out what each program looks for in their applicants. I am wishing the best for you with UCLA and CSUSM!

For those of you who got access to the GET, I was wondering what's the status of your transcripts on the to-do list?

Echo your sentiments to @byoung10!

My transcripts still say "Initiated." It's nerve wracking because that hasn't updated for a good week, but our transcripts are there (or at least at the SON, maybe they haven't made their way to admissions yet, or been entered, or any number of things). This month needs to get a move on!

Crowdsourcing request- does anyone know the person who interviewed us named Cindy? Specifically her last name? I can't remember if I was introduced to her using her full name and would like to reach out... there are a few Cindy's and my limited search methods haven't yielded the results I'd like. Any help is much appreciated!

Hey guys. I haven't checked in on here in a while, but congrats to everybody who got interviews! I have my interview in a couple days and I'm pretty nervous, mainly because this is my top program choice. I don't really know how to prepare for something like this, considering any question is fair game, so I'm just going to get a good nights rest, eat well, and go in feeling confident :)

Good luck! The interview is not intimidating at all. Review what @jleegato mentioned on page 3, and relax and be confident. You'll do great!

I appreciate the support ?! I read over their post and it definitely helped me with what to expect.

Good luck to you and @E.R Silverlake on your upcoming interviews! They've got to be the last... so maybe we will hear back next week! I am really hoping to be put out of this misery soon.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get your input. So it seems like I’ll have to take a sizable private loan out on top of the unsubsidized federal loan of $12,500 to attend - including a living expense loan. Is anyone else in a similar boat? I absolutely hate incurring debt, but wanted to get some input from colleagues who may be placed in similar situations.

Hey Everyone,

It's my first time posting but I must admit I have been following this thread religiously while anxiously waiting to hear back regarding admissions. I also am on the same boat. @jleegato

It scares me greatly to take out a loan of 32k just for tuition and more for extras (equipment, books, etc). I've looked into applying to various private scholarships but most require proof of enrollment before submitting. I did email Dr. Hinoki about this specifically and she said she recommends taking our private loans but we will have the opportunity to speak with a financial advisor once we are accepted. Additionally, she said we would have more information about financial options at orientation.
