I've only "repeated" 2 science prereqs: Microbiology and Anatomy. Microbiology I got an F on the first attempt and then an A on the second attempt. I withdrew from Anatomy and then I transferred to a different college and got an A in anatomy. I'm just wondering if that goes against the requirements since I never originally got credit for these courses during my first attempt and I didn't repeat them for a higher grade?

I'm not sure for the "withdrew" one, but I think it may apply with Micro. You may want to check it with them.

Hey ninja1968, I have a question about what’s the lowest TEAS score you’ve seen in your cohort because I’m worried mines iffy. I have cumulative 3.79 GPA, 7 of the 8 prerequisites (minus micro RN) 3.71 GPA, TEAS 74.7, and 100+ hrs of volunteer hours. IDK if that’s good enough to have a chance at admission

Hi! So this totally depends on the competition between you and the rest of the people applying for 2021. That’s why I think it’s important for all of you to share your stats with each other so you can have an idea where you all stand against each other! I believe based on the comments on here, the competition is not as steep this year in comparison to last year! The people who I have become close to during the semester have told me they applied with 3.9-4.0 GPA’s, but I do know a guy who applied with a 3.75, but he applied to the program multiple times before getting accepted. The lowest I have heard of is 80% on TEAS in my cohort. However, there are 68 people in my cohort and I did not ask every single person in my cohort what their GPA and TEAS score was! So keep that part in mind. I would recommend retaking the TEAS (it doesn’t hurt), but if you don’t have time... just apply and hope for the best! You and the other applicants on here should compare stats so you have a better idea! Good luck to you ?

Thank you so much for having time to respond to my question. I’m just trying to have a good shot at being competitive and seeing what I may have to do. Wondering if Covid is going to have an impact on this application cycle number of applicants. What did u do to get high score on the TEAS? Any quick tips to help

Hello Ninja1968!

When you say 3.75, 3.9/4.0 are you referring to Pre-Req GPA? or Cumulative GPA.

That’s a good point. Maybe with covid less people will apply. Last year 1500 people applied and 70 were selected so it was crazy competition! Now we are down to 68 tho (not sure what happened to the other 2 LOL). For the TEAS I got the big yellow book on Amazon called “ATI secrets” something like that. It was like 25$ I think. I also paid like 90$ for the “basic package” to get two practice tests from ATI and a study manual. I also used the website Registerednursing.org/TEAS which is completely free!

You know what I’m not sure about that guy... he never specified to me. He just said GPA so maybe he meant cumulative? Not sure tho. My friends got 4.0’s in both, I got a 4.0 in GE’s but 3.95 in cumulative.

CSULA has a waitlist right? I wonder how many alternates usually get in if people decide to decline their spot.

Yes there is a waitlist. Unlike Long Beach, they don’t even tell you that you are on the waitlist which is super annoying! They basically wait until enough people decline before telling you. I also want to mention if you are denied at first, email -------------------- or appeal the decision.  I was denied at first and emailed ------------------------ immediately and she let me know it was a mistake and accepted me right away. I also know 2 people who made an official appeal and got accepted. Just thought I’d throw that info out there!

Thanks! What did you include in your appeal? This is the first school I've heard of that has an appeal process so I'm very curious ? Wait so they do notify you if you are on the waitlist? Or do they not say at all...
