CSULA Fall 2021

Hi all!
I just wanted to create this forum for students who are applying to CSULA Fall 2021 for the BSN Nursing track in case we had questions for each other, wanted to share thoughts, stats and to support each other through this journey.

I was wondering if anyone has applied and knew if CSULA requires verification for volunteer hours in their NursingCAS application portion? Also, will they accept any amount of volunteer hours under 50? I know you can add a document. Thank you!

That's awesome! You story gives me a lot of hope. I sent in my appeal 1.5 hours after I got my rejection. May I ask what your stats were?

I am glad it gave you hope. My stats were 4.0 (pre req/cum), TEAS 84%, I honestly can't remember exact volunteer hours or work experience but I had maybe about 100~ hours in volunteering and 150~ hours in health care experience.

To those appealing,

I'm appealing b/c they said they never got my nursing application. I have proof of that and am writing a brief letter of appeal. Do we have to submit the official appeal application through the college though on top of emailing -------------------------?

And if anyone is wondering my stats:

cum GPA: 3.56

prereq GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 90

work experience: 3700+ hours (EMT)

This was my question also. So far I have only sent an email back and was also wondering whether we need a separate appeal.

Hi all

For those asking, I got a rejection letter — the same day, I emailed the nursing department (sorry allnurses does not allow me to say names because the comment gets filtered).

The very next day, I received an email saying "We re-reviewed your application. You will receive a reversal letter soon.”

The day after, my portal turned to a green circle. The day after that, I received an official acceptance email from Cal State LA stating I was accepted to the nursing program.

total 2-3 days of waiting to get an official acceptance

hey @PaintingRain

after getting the initial rejection email did you get another one stating the reason why they rejected you? I'm just curious because I received an email this morning about the reason why I got rejected and was told to send proof if ever it was a mistake on their end. I'm wondering if I should send an official appeal or wait until they respond to my email.

No, I just got a "below the selection benchmark" email today. I applied with 3.9+ GPA, 95th percentile TEAS, and 100+ hospital volunteer hours. (also, local preference) I lowkey feel stressed. Maybe I'll get another email tomr if I'm in the same situation as you. I wish you best of luck!

Hey Ninja!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you say or mention in the email to PACSON?

I am in same boat as you when they said they didn't get my application. I am waiting on the person to get back as we can't say the name but I was wondering like many to just submit an appeal right now or to wait when she responds

It probably is a mistake -- hopefully! Did they ever let you know  I wish you all the best as well and hope this all turns out so much better than we're wishing ??

Hi everyone!

Got my acceptance email yesterday! I’m a second year pre-nursing CSULA student :)

I'm a prenursing student at CSULA. I'm actually a first year student. This year the nursing major rewrote the course roadmap to allow first year students to apply. So, I wonder if that shifted the number of applications they received this year.

From what I’ve heard they did not increase the number it’s staying at 70.

I don't think they notify you if you are on their waitlist. I think they'll just contact you if someone declines the offer or drops out.

There is a waitlist actually, a couple of people I know did get waitlisted as opposed to being rejected.
