CSUB Nursing Program for Fall 2014

I think mine is 65.5 if I calculate the units with the ones they have posted online. At my school micro was 5 semester units but online it says 3 semester units. So my gpa is lowered because of that.

Try not to stress too much about getting in, I'm sure you guys are all sitting fine. I'm currently a student in CSUB's nursing program and when I got in, a lot of people that sat below the 60th ranking ended up getting in because students chose other schools, etc. If I remember correctly, we were told right at the beginning of July about our acceptance, because there's a lot of "to do's" before school starts in September.

Lotteries can be really tricky... you either get in or you don't; it's like competition doesn't matter much at that point...

Well if you have good grades and did well on the TEAS, seems like you might have a good chance at getting in! :)

I also applied to CSULB, California State University, Chico, and Los Angeles County. CSULB didn't take me in cause the chemistry course that I took at my CC is not in their agreement and I got waitlisted at California State University, Chico. Still waiting to hear from Los Angeles County and CSUB.

No problem! I scored an 89 on the TEAS, and for GPA they only considered our pre-reqs and divided it in to 2 categories, science and everything else. I can't remember exactly but I had a 3.91 for science and a 3.7 or 3.8 for the other GPA category. I had "bonus" points for being from Kern County, being a continuing CSUB student, community service, etc. I think they're still doing the same selection method (point system), but because the adviser is on maternity leave they're cutting out rankings. I know a lot of people that got in with much lower TEAS scores and GPAs.

I know that we are planning a meet and greet for the newly admitted nursing students for early August, so I think you guys will know early July.

Oh! BTW allaboutkitties, I emailed the person in charge and she confirmed that there are no rankings and we will find out if we get in July/August. Just to make it official haha. (even though we already knew that). :)

Yeah, I don't know if you saw the nursing dept. website before it was updated but a GPA conversion/calculation method file was posted on it before, which is how I was able to figure out how to do the conversions and stuff. It's actually pretty neat so if you want to me to send it to you let me know! :)

Ahhh we're a month away so we still have some waiting to do! It's nice knowing that it's official though.

Wow thank you for the info MSrn! Based on previous scores/acceptances on their website I'm just a little above average, plus I'm not a resident or continuing student at Bakersfield which is an easy 10 points that I could have had.

My first pick is CSUB (at least for right now). I would have to relocate from the Los Angeles area and that sounds pretty stressful...

I love it! I read up on allnurses before I started nursing school and it scared me pretty bad for what was in store. Nursing school hasn't been extremely difficult, but it's a ton of assignments and time management. We have really good professors and clinical experiences. I have finals next week, and then I'll have finished my second year. I graduate next Spring.
